Slow Sunday vibes ☕️

You enter a quiet dungeon room… torches flicker, something stirs in the shadows.

We’ve been heads-down working on the Steam version of Roguecraft DX, and it’s starting to feel special. Can’t wait to share more!✨

A tale about fixing eBPF spinlock issues in the Linux kernel | Ritesh Oedayrajsingh Varma A system freeze led us deep into Linux spinlock internals, where we helped find not one but three bugs in the kernel's resilient locking code used by eBPF.

New article! A user is reporting full system freezes while using Superluminal on Linux. What do you do? Cry? Well, we did a little bit.

But we also dove into the kernel...again, this time fixing several issues in eBPF's spinlock implementation. Read all about it:

Had an Mac Air M1 with 8GB, it was okay-ish. But I didn't compile million line codebases on it :)

The creator of ChatGPT is named "Altman," as in "alternative to human" and he leads OpenAI, which is completely closed.

His main opponent is the company Anthropic, meaning "human-centered" is led by "Amodei," as in "loves gods".

Then there's "Gemini," meaning "two-faced," from a cmpany that says it will do no evil.

Brilliant work as always Kojima!

Sadly yeah these are lessons to be learned the hard way 😔

So a junior llm wielder drowns out experienced ppl in the team trying to reign them in while also as far as I can observe having a significantly hard time learning anything in this way

Also all of these discussions are from experts in a field but I have seen significant variance in outcomes depending on the initial knowledge of the programmer (overall imho negative since I just don’t understand how one accumulates knowledge in this mode of work)

I think it gets stuck at the slop since that’s most likely outcome we are heading towards as an industry. It’s kind if inevitable

r/analytics
• IOh
We just found out our AI has been making up
analytics data for 3 months and I'm gonna
throw up.
Support
So we've been using an Al agent since November to
answer leadership questions about metrics. It seemed
amazing at first fast answers, detailed explanations,
everyone loved it.
I just found out it's been hallucinating numbers this
entire time.
Our VP of sales made territory decisions based on
data that didn't exist. Our CFO showed the board a
deck with fake insights. The Al was just inventing
plausible sounding percentages.
I only caught it by accident when someone asked me
to double check something. I started digging, and
holy shit, it's bad.

It happened before where permissive licenses allowed several companies to build SaaS products and licenses appeared forbidding a specific use of the software.

So I wouldn't be surprised if some frameworks or even laws (since this isn't only about code) pop up in a similar directions.

These companies would have nothing without training on the work of ppl who anyway barely made it (e.g. especially in art, literature, etc.) and now boast with deranged statements saying that tons of jobs will be extinct in 12-18 months.

I expect we will get some ways to opt out from having your work in AI/LLM training data.

I just don't understand how we got where where by virtue of putting something out there somehow it's automatically allowing 3-4 companies to profit from someone's work under with no way to opt-out.

"Fair use" seems to be invoked often but doesn't seem fair to me that a handful of companies benefit from ppls work. There should be a way to opt out from your creation to be included in some training data. Also how much it changes depends on view. Extracting harry potter from LLMs seems sus

Sure mate, will use lawyergpt and accountantgpt to do my taxes, especially accountant gpt as these models are known to be great at math

My AI doesn't even make dumb statements like this:

"So white-collar work, where you're sitting down at a computer, either being a lawyer or an accountant or a project manager or a marketing person — most of those tasks will be fully automated by an AI within the next 12 to 18 months.

I already automated him today, not in 12-18 months.

Judge the code, not the coder. Your prejudice is hurting matplotlib.

Discord option to enable an age restricted channel

I thought it restricts channels where the creators checked this. Can this be changed on the discord side?
