A PSA to all my millennial eldest daughters: the time to digitize those family VHS tapes is now! I started yesterday and a lot is salvageable, but the film has sustained some significant damage, as seen below

All week I’ve been wondering if the thing my cats are staring at is a pantry moth or a ghost. Now I desperately want to write a story about this but I can’t figure out the angle or POV and the most deranged part of my brain keeps going “give the POV to the moths”

It was such a pleasure to be part of the editing process for Priyanka Champaneri’s short story, “Good Neighbor.” I think we’re all craving connection right now, and this story delivers. Read it and then go say hi to your neighbors 💖

Short Story for Side A: “Fragments of One or the Other” by Molly Andrea-Ryan Fragments of One or the Other It’s Tuesday, which means it’s the day that I spend the afternoon with my niece. I watch her, that’s what her mother would say, although that sounds a little too punit…

So excited to have this story about an aunt, her niece, and a little bit of madness up in @hfr.bsky.social today!

I was watching the 1966 film adaptation of Mary McCarthy’s The Group last night and couldn’t figure out why the actor playing Libby looked so familiar, and then it hit me: she’s Lucille Bluth!

The shifting feeling is relatable to me! My most logic-lacking aspect is always the layout or construction of things, like stairs that you up for awhile just to send you back down or walls made out of sand that dissolve away, that sort of thing!

This story in particular is a great resource to read, bookmark, and share with your networks outside of Bluesky. Let's make Lex's dream come true by clicking through and sharing widely!

Okay I know we’ve largely agreed that talking about dreams can get a little boring but I have a question for you all: what is the architecture of your dreams like? Do you dream buildings that are realistic and logically designed or do you dream buildings that are all surprises and confusion?

And on the flip side, I so rarely manage to get where I need to go in 1000 words! Writers who can live mostly in flash are so impressive to me—I’m rarely concise enough to pull it off 🥲

Admittedly every story I write starts out with *at least* 500 words that need to be scrapped 😅 I feel like I have a natural tendency to write into the 5,000-word range before realizing while editing that I actually wrote a 4,000-word story!

reposting this today because I have no marketing budget, because I'm publishing this with a tiny press run by a friend, because I put my whole heart into this book like I did with Boxcutters and I'm proud as fuck and this year has been one long painful but fruitful lesson in perseverance and risk
