Danke @karldietzberlin.bsky.social für die Übersetzung unseres Buches und für diesen fantastischen Titel: "Das Prinzip Verzweigung".
In the journal Globalizations, @cedricdurand.bsky.social has published an article that critiques Friedrich Hayek’s knowledge problem through analysing green finance and the Anthropocene and outlines how socialist planning could be feasible in the 21st century. www.indep.network/article-prov...

@futurehistories.bsky.social insightful argument for #ecologicalplanning: to think that adhering to planetary boundaries is limiting choice now is disregarding the adverse and greater effect on choice and freedoms acting without ecology in mind will have and is having now. @cedricdurand.bsky.social
thank you @futurehistories.bsky.social for this conversation !

From @cedricdurand.bsky.social "Ecological planning is the alternative to Green finance. But its institutional design must acknowledge the non-identity of nature, the importance of the Polanyian internal overview, and the need for robust democratic countervailing forces."

Ecological planning is the alternative to Green finance. But its institutional design must acknowledge the non-identity of nature, the importance of the Polanyian internal overview, and the need for robust democratic countervailing forces. 6/
Still, reification tendencies are not confined to the realm of commodity fetishism; they are also present in bureaucratic and scientific methods and technologies and affect both nature and the very possibility of a meaningful life. 5/
Contra Hayek, I draw on Charles Bettelheim, who argues that the concrete possibilities of planning depend on the development of information systems. 4/
Contrastingly, the purpose of economic planning in the Anthropocene is to enable the emergence of an economic subject that is also an ecological subject, a subject capable of deploying a new form of reflexivity upon the entanglement of the natural and social spheres. 3/
Green finance relies on an epistemology that considers markets as an efficient information processor. It overlooks the issue of how knowledge about the environment should emerge and how it relates to the challenge of reshaping our economies to remain within planetary boundaries. 2/
In this paper I show that the prevalent forms of knowledge production and use are inadequate to guarantee the perpetuation of a safe ecological space and argue in favor of planning episteme against green finance 1/

Fascinating piece by @cedricdurand.bsky.social . A key issue here - as per Microsoft’s recent laments - is the impossibility of forcing firms to adopt a technology that demoralises them and delivers no near-term profit. The limits of financial and cultural hype. newleftreview.org/sidecar/post...

Thanks for pointing out !
