I want diplomats recalled from the US. I want renegotiations about US bases in Europe. I want an official boycott of the World Cup by all participating nations. I want new articles of impeachment filed every single day.

Play time is over. Act like adults or make way for those who do.

I would have preferred to have the "draw the rest of the owl" meme on the cover, but this will do. Seems like it is on schedule, and we'll leave some typos so you know we didn't write it with AI.

A viral dog rescue from 2016 is now immortalized with a statue in Kazakhstan. When a dog fell into the Sayran reservoir, bystanders formed a human chain to pull him to safety. The statue is a reminder of the value of unity, solidarity and collective action. 14/10 for all

How do people search for information to make efficient decisions?

Our new theory, now out in Psychological Review, suggests that an efficient search rule is (at the core of) the answer. And eye-tracking data support our theory.

22 years of Brain Science: what CoSyNe tells us about the evolution of Neuroscience Tracking the intellectual DNA of Computational and Systems Neuroscience through its flagship meeting

I tracked every keyword in 22 years of Cosyne abstracts to map how computational neuroscience evolved — from Bayesian brains to neural manifolds to LLMs — and where it's heading next.

Stimulus reliability but not boundary distance manipulations violate the folded-X pattern of confidence The folded-X pattern has been identified as a critical signature of confidence: as conditions become easier, confidence increases for correct trials b…

Our new paper is out in Cognition! What determines whether confidence follows the classic "folded-X" pattern vs. the "double-increase" pattern? The answer lies in the type of stimulus manipulation. Big thanks to my advisor Doby @dobyrahnev.bsky.social and co-first author @herrickfung.bsky.social !

'If you've eliminated a few possibilities and you can't think of any others, your weird theory is proven right' isn't quite as rhetorically compelling.

How do priors influence speech processing? Do they enhance expected signals or highlight the unexpected (prediction errors)? @fabianschneider.bsky.social' s work shows: It depends!

Can Your Face Predict Your Salary? Using AI Personality Assessments in Hiring A new study from Wharton faculty explores how AI can extract personality traits from facial images — and what that means for your career.

Computer scientists: "So with machine learning we can extract subtle patterns from massive datasets. What shall we do with it?"

Business school professors, every single time: "You know, I think phrenology got a raw deal in the late 1800s."

You can’t reboot the planet if you crash it What Gates is putting forward aren’t legitimate arguments that can be made in good faith. They are shopworn fossil fuel industry talking points.

Another good reason to kill this whole industry now. It’s going to fail anyway, we may as well do so while we still have a chance to restore the planet.

Glad to see my first-year project is out!

In two experiments, we manipulated multiple stimulus features in a perception task, yet their effects on confidence and accuracy fell into just two distinct behavioral patterns, offering a way to predict the effects of novel stimulus manipulations.
