Hey, I’m not going to subtweet or throw shade because I want to be as clear as possible. I’m only calling out one person, and that person will be named. If you want to take it as a personal attack, that is your own thing to work through because I am only naming one name. I blocked them some time ago, and I want nothing to do with them. However, this person is heavily involved in a community I care about and it is my hope they won’t be allowed to cause further harm. So I’m speaking my truth, even though I have lived over a year in fear of their retaliation. CW: emotional abuse.
B. Glovich has repeatedly engaged in incredibly dishonest, manipulative, and cruel behavior towards someone I care about. And that’s the end of that. There is no, “he did it because she…” There is no, “it was a toxic relationship and no one’s perfect.” There is no “two sides of the story.” His behaviors were unacceptable, in any context. Intimidation, manipulation, stalking, lying, for an extended period of time. It is abuse, point blank. I will not allow anyone to try and convince me “that’s just what happens” in a relationship. I recognize emotional abuse when I see it. I recognize the language abusers use to conceal it. Those behaviors were a choice, just like refusing to take accountability is a choice.
I’m not talking about a “side of the story” I heard. I’m not speaking up based on rumors. I. Saw. The. Abuse. For over a year I watched the emotional, physical, and financial toll his behavior took on my friend. I confronted him face to face and watched his manipulation tactics play out in real time. No awareness, no remorse, and it terrified me. Keeping silent has haunted me with anxiety for a long time now. Having shared social spaces with this person, knowing the ongoing abuse my friend was dealing with, and just matching her smiles pretending everything was fine for the sake of keeping some imaginary peace for a social media community? I fell victim to manipulation by proxy; he hurt her to control her, to keep her silent, and that kept me silent too. It’s a nightmare I just don’t want to live in anymore.
I’m not here to tell anyone else’s story or make conjecture. I hope everyone, anyone, hurt by him can heal. I hope he can learn better and do better. I just won’t be around to see it, because that person is no longer welcome in my orbit. I don’t think he deserves to be attacked or harassed, despite the pain he has caused. Because I don’t think anyone deserves that. However, I certainly won’t stand for him or anyone trying to pretend the abuse didn’t happen. This is a lot, and it’s hard to be concise with so much emotion and anxiety hanging over me. I’ll try to end clear and to the point: I want it to be known that I do not feel safe in spaces B. Glovich is in, IRL or online. If you are a Kingdom Hearts community member who interacts with, collabs with, or spotlights him, I would encourage you to rethink that. Doing so endorses his behavior. If you have dealt with this kind of behavior and need someone to talk to, I’m here.
