Humans vary greatly from one another. We're complex beings. We need to stop assuming that we should all fit some mold and carving up anyone who doesn't nearly fit.
The answer is embracing people's differences and letting children be who they tell you they are, instead of enforcing societal/cultural norms that only harm them.
