The cover of issue 185 of The Continent is an illustration by Ethiopian cartoonist Yemsrach Yetneberk. It depicts two French soldiers, one a standard-bearer, walking away from the graves of the tirailleurs, West African riflemen. The riflemen, who were part of the Second World War effort were not acknowledged by France and were killed when they demanded fair wages when they returned to Senegal.
