Animation to the character and maybe a little trail to the direction. That would add more character. A personal test I would do is instead of black and white flash maybe white and blue like it's a residual image of the character and add easing to the animation, like fast start and slow landing

I based a fighting game + minigames with a single BUTTON action, you can imagine the gymnastics of mechanics to work with a single input. It's funny because it sounds and looks simple, but people actually struggle at first playing only with one button 🥲😂
