Hey man. Tailgating me so close I can only see your hood in my rear view is not going to make me go faster. All you're doing is making this drive unsafe for the both of us. Thanks.

your posts are a delight to see, especially how specific they get, and I'm always amazed you come up with new ones that are so creative and usually make me laugh. Happy birthday!!!!

He was a good professor. He gave me a film theory book at the end of the semester because I was asking him for recommendations on what to read and classes to take. Still one of the nicest things a professor has done for me.

He said that even if BOAN was considered "revolutionary" (he said it was debatable) the history of film changes as more things are discovered, and it was actually okay to not watch something so horrifically racist. I have more classes to take so I'm sure I'll watch it eventually, but you know.

I admit I'm still a long way from watching enough films to feel like I know what I'm talking about, but I am a film student and my first professor didn't have us watch BOAN because of this exact reason. He did have us watch The Battle at Elderbush Gulch with some very clear disclaimers beforehand.

Artemis II Return
NASA's Orion spacecraft carrying Artemis II Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, and Mission Specialist Christina Koch from NASA, along with Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen from the CSA (Canadian Space Agency), splashes down in the Pacific Ocean near San Diego, California, at 5:07 p.m. PDT, (8:07 p.m. EDT) on Friday, April 10, 2026. The Artemis II test flight launched on Wednesday, April 1, from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida to begin its 10-day journey around the Moon for scientific discovery, economic benefits, and to build on our foundation for the first crewed missions to Mars. If you add in robots or any kind of tech you're going to be commenting on what fills that spot now. Also every story has political bias in it, that's just how reality is, and if you don't agree it's probably because you've never had to fight for or think about your rights. Like. Come on.

It's a wild take, especially for sci-fi, which really is The Social Critique genre? Like even at the most basic readings, if you write something about the future you have to know how that future society works? That's going to reflect in politics. And space exploration is inherently political?

A big takeaway this year has to be that Sinners and One Battle After Another were big, artist driven, swings bankrolled by WB whose future is ultimately unclear. I like living in a world where people like PTA and Ryan Coogler get to make the films they want to make with those resources.
