A well-worn lesson that the right has learned far better than the left: You don't sway the public with appeals to morals. You sway them by finding their self interests and exploiting them.

Americans and Russians are not the least bit different in this, and reformers of both need to understand it.

Moscow residents are making videos complaining they donโ€™t have internet. Itโ€™s the first time theyโ€™ve complained about anything since the full scale invasion. They donโ€™t care about russiaโ€™s war crimes. Only that they canโ€™t watch Netflix. This isnt just Putins war; itโ€™s russiaโ€™s

That's the dollars-and-cents part. And probably the smallest part.

That's a lot of heavy lifting. Let's get started on it as soon as we have a living congress and a president who can see past his ego and greed.

That's called bribery. If an official, elected or not, needs advice on a matter, there are millions of professors who would be happy to consult.

Ban anyone who has ever lobbied for, managed, or is invested in an industry from holding an administrative position regulating that industry.

and put a stop to mergers that create them. There's a reason for those anti-trust laws. Maybe put a hard limit on the market cap of corporations? Hmmm...

Craft SCOTUS-proof legislation reversing Citizens United.

Ban lobbyists. Their only real purpose is injecting money into political decisions.

The rich will continue to suck up the money in perpetuity. Like terrorism, greed can't be wiped out, just controlled. We know the first basic steps toward controlling it; we just need a congress with the guts to take them.

We need to take anti-trust seriously again, break up monopolies,

It just sits there until our conditions are met.

That is civil disobedience. Civil disobedience, in various forms, is the next step of the resistance.

So, how do we stop our employers--๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น employers, even MAGAs--from withholding federal taxes from our paychecks?

It is, of course, tax evasion. That, of course, is illegal. Greedy people do that simply because they want to keep the money and spend it on themselves.

But we can take greed out of the equation by putting that money into escrow. It doesn't make it legal, but it does give it moral legitimacy.

I am totally with you. One problem with the plan, though: The treasury has my taxes before I even get the paycheck.

How do we stop that from happening? If we could answer that and spread it around, how many of our fellow citizens do you think could be talked into a tax strike?

Curious, does climate denier extraordinaire Donald Trump like chocolate? What would he say about limited supply?

On the other hand, he'll probably say the best chocolate is made from petroleum.

The climate crisis affects every part of our lives, including chocolate. High heat and drought made cocoa prices soar over recently, forcing Hersheyโ€™s and others to find cheaper, alternatives. Check the labels. If it says โ€œmilk chocolate,โ€ itโ€™s good. โ€œChocolate candyโ€ - nope; not the real thing.

Forgiveness rarely helps the person being forgiven anyway. It more often helps the person forgiving. I don't like staying mad, and by not being mad and engaging on common ground, I think I did change one person's mind. That's one more than I normally hope for.

I share your anger, but we need votes.

In ISAIAH and Indivisible, they stress learning a person's self interest and speaking to it. How are they being hurt by this administration?

The idea isn't to get to like them or convince them to be likable. It's to get them thinking about changing their vote. That's what we need. It helps us win.

You are right about America. Not about Americans.

The world can't trust America because we have a rogue government. The American people are working on that. Many of us.

You can help us by not helping us. Do NOTHING for the US. But if we visit, a little sympathy would be appreciated. Please?

โ€œThe U.S. has changed, and we must respond.โ€ No hedging. No โ€œour American friends.โ€ Just a clean acknowledgement that the country on the other side of the border is not the country we thought we knew."

Mamdani: "What are we fighting for?. When you look back at the history books of our party, 100 years ago we had a very clear vision of what we were fighting for. It's sad that for too many Americans, when they want to look for ambition in the Democratic Party, then have to turn to a history book."

I am not so unforgiving. I'll give anyone credit for personal growth, even if I don't like what it took to get there.

What matters now is that we're all on the side of the American people.

And just as important, the side of humanity.

Either this article is missing substantial context, or there are some really overblown reactions. Something is clearly missing, and I have to do some independent learning.

I suggest for anyone else concerned about these players to do the same.
