Discourse 46.3 is live! It features an absolutely essential piece reflecting on fascist times by Georges Didi-Huberman: "Why Obey?," skillfully translated by Heath Valentine from the short book Pour Quoi Obéir. Every piece in this issue is fantastic.

Spent the long weekend up in Portland for Margaret Honda's screening at the Hollywood Theater with Cinema Project. My first official dissertation research trip!

it is a funny byproduct of logging films. i suspect the devs hoped to gamify this somehow (in concert w the "top 100 films of all time" etc lists)

According to Letterboxd, I've seen 6% of films connected to Chayefsky (ie, only Marty). 😬

"Office mixer" vibes over here.

Caught a Saturday morning classics screening of Marty (1955) while visiting Portland. Good turnout, bigger than the audience for Friendship later that day. According to Letterboxd, I've now seen 1% of films by Delbert Mann.

This is in contrast w mirror stage and "organization of the organism" as a priori vs a posteriori. It seems the a priori form is neither tactile nor visual, but affective? Might be misunderstanding this but you've made me interested in reading Simondon! Will this be part of your talk Tues?

This is super interesting! But couldn't anticipatory imagination be said to be formless, while mental images depend on form?

I think of this as the new alienation of labor – if you respond earnestly, you are giving your sincere feedback to machines, with the student as an audience

Inspired by @jamesleocahill.bsky.social's mobile cinema posts, I offer these (not-great) photos of a (very great) festival held in Frankfurt last September. These are from the Pupille Kino screenings at the uni student center (the rest took place in the plush filmmuseum). exff.de/en
