wish I had after going today, I'm feel knackered now lol
Early bird, catches the best DS game ever (according to users on metacritic lol) ... Friday morning #carboot bargains.
This one is a bit of a Frankenstein machine, been swapping parts as I go along.
I loved Day of the Tentacle, so sounds like it would be right up my street!
Oh wow, hope there was a pause key if you needed the loo lol ... will have to check that one out๐
Great list ... Sam and Max is next on my list of adventure games to check out and play.๐
Must admit though, first time playing the original #C&C as my first introduction to this franchise was through the Red Alert 3 that I played via STEAM, hence my cosplay-ish homage to Tanya today with the look. Top marks to all those who noticed that! Happy #retrogaming everyone!
And have to say, C&C and Red Alert both run like a dream on my recently rebuilt #WindowsXP, Pentium MMX 233 MHz computer, with its 256 MB RAM (i know way over spec), S3 ViRGE/DX graphics card, and Sound Blaster sound card. What specs did you have? (cont...)
Who remembers PC gaming in the 1990s? If so, what's your favourite game from this era? ... Gaming like it's the 1990s with a #retrogaming CD-ROM classic everyone keeps recommending, that being the original 1995 RTS (real-time strategy) game, Command & Conquer from Westwood Studios. (cont...)
nice and simple design, so well suited to laser cutting๐ ... just needs to be made into a vector graphic
Anyway, now I'm hooked on making signs, so have to ask which classic brand do you think I should tackle next for the workshop? Drop your suggestions below: PlayStation? SNES? Game Boy? Amiga? Neo Geo? Or something else?๐พ๐น๏ธ
And talking of making... I'm stepping out of my usual retro content for this one because I'm thrilled to announce I'll be attending #MakersCentral as a guest this year! (16-17 May 2026, NEC, Birmingham) can't wait to meet fellow makers and share the maker vibes. (cont...)
And whilst I'm a bit too young to have experienced this myself, I just had to recreate some of that nostalgic signage vibe for my workshop ... So, with some expert tips from my dad (a former signmaker) and my trusty laser cutter, I think we absolutely nailed them! (cont...)
Who misses video games stores?๐ฎ and which one do you remember going to the most?๐ฌ ... And do you remember walking into a video game store back in the 80s/90s/00s and being hit with those epic branded signs and display cases? Bold logos, colourful epic posters and stands... pure magic!โจ (cont...)

... And for those across the pond, ZZap!64 first launched in May 1985 and was the go-to bible for UK C64 fans for many years. And it's still going strong today (relaunched in 2021 and now published by @zzap64micro.bsky.social) with quarterly issues and annuals.
... What an absolute time capsule for the #C64. Loving the humour, reviews, and how vivid and bright each page looks. Also, obsessed with the covers by the legendary Oliver Frey. ... but seriously, what's with all the premium rate phone line adverts? Did you ask bill payer's permission ๐๐ (cont...)
Who remembers 80s/90s video gaming magazines? And do you miss them? ๐ฎ๐น๏ธ ... Having a great time going through this stack of vintage ZZap!64 magazines that my dad bought for me, knowing my retro obsession! ๐ ... Which ones did you buy back in the day, C&VG, Nintendo Power or something else? (cont...)
tbf, I didn't think you were that old to have had/used a C64 lol
tell me ... was about to buy a 96GB DDR5 upgrade in October, held off till the new year and wish I hadn't as it's gone from ยฃ270 to ยฃ900.๐คฆ
Monster Maze is one I have played a while back, jump scares and everything lol
Not yet ... but that one, and the Timex spectrum version are on my list to get. Plus would love to get my hands on some of those Brazilian clones, like the TK80 and TK90X/TK95๐
... on another note, saved two more Sinclair ZX81s ... just needed fresh ULAs to bring them back to life. Thank goodness for modern FPGA replacements, because original chips are getting harder to find now.๐ ๏ธ
Also on the topic of ZX81s ... what games does everyone recommend I check out next? ๐ค
... we're so spoilt nowadays with gigabytes of RAM to play with ... so hats off to those incredible 80s programmers who squeezed amazing games into 48K/or 64K on the Speccy and C64!
Drop your first coding machine in the comments below, bonus points if it had a language other than BASIC๐ (cont...)
What computer did you first learn to code on?๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ป (or not๐) ... Gaming like it's 1982 tonight!๐ฅ... Still can't believe they squeezed a complete chess game, with computer opponent, into just 672 bytes on the ZX81. No castling or promotion, but still an absolute masterpiece of coding wizardry.๐งโโ๏ธ (cont...)
Check out the video ... as now tempted to paint one of my Commodore computers, what colour do you think I should go for?๐ค Great job @yawning-angel.bsky.social, always happy to help.
Best way to describe is, it's a very poor bootleg that came after the original Game Boy it's styled upon. And contains one of those single LCD screen games, like Tiger used to make.
ha ... I need to find a manual, as for the life of me I can't work out what I'm doing with this, it's that bad lol
