Hard agree. I posted about it on Twitter on my burner earlier but I think the key in the nebulous idea of "storytelling" (which is the most overused + undeserving term to describe DJs/DJing) is treating DJing as prose. I think of DJing-as-prose in the same way some think of video games as art.

I feel like they wouldn't be doing the same sociopolitical things! There's no consensus political views in dance music, even PLUR has migrated to EDMworld.

DJ sets reveal a lot more about their DJs than I think they realize.
