I sincerely thank everyone who came to the meeting in Berlin this evening and who remains interested in the Ukrainian topic.

Dear friends in Berlin,
tomorrow at 7:30 PM there will be an open meeting at the Literarisches Colloquium Berlin (Am Sandwerder 5).
Additionally, on April 28, I will be taking part in an event at the University of Klagenfurt.
If you are nearby, we would be delighted to see you.
Looks like Mrs. Carmody in the supermarket in "The Mist", based on Stephen King work)
Well, by the morning one thing can be said with confidence: “you cannot defeat a nuclear state” has once again proven to be nonsense.
And yes, it’s better not to even read the toothless statements of European leaders.
I took this photo today not far from Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin. In it, between a GDR stele and a Soviet red star, is Hero of Ukraine Oleksandr Matsievskyi, who was shot by Russian forces on a captured position after shouting “Glory to Ukraine!”, already unarmed.
A symbol that requires no words.
It is perfectly clear what Trump will write in the event of a Russian invasion of the Baltics - 'Remember Iran!'
For Putin, everything is turning out ideally with this American president.
Four years later, it still stings to see demand for innovations from the side that was supposed to lose in two weeks.
Russian, Russian commanders torture their men.
If there had been mobile phones and Telegram in Stalin’s time, we would have seen the same thing:
Take a look at this photo, where 1.6 million residents of the USSR gathered for a Metallica concert in Moscow, 1991.
Then read brilliant article about that concert and the nuclear fear of the “unbreakable Union,” which collapsed just a few weeks later:

The pilots of the downed Russian helicopter were also killed in a Ukrainian drone strike while on the ground:
The U.S. uses Patriot missiles to take down drones, while Ukrainian forces are taking down Russian helicopters with drones:
🤦
This could happen in cases of arrests or persecution of Russians under decisions of foreign or international courts.
You can make the list of countries where “Russians are being discriminated against” yourselves, starting with the Baltics.

I don’t know what other slap the EU needs to finally wake up.
A bill has been introduced in the Russian parliament that openly speaks of a future war between Russia and the EU. According to the document, Russian troops may invade any country by the president’s decision to protect Russians.

Now it’s in the Financial Times👇
A screenshot of Swarmer’s IPO on NASDAQ today.
The company develops drone technology, with software built on its unique combat experience in Ukraine.
On its first day, the stock tripled, rising from $12.5 to $38 - a real indicator of the value of Ukraine’s experience.

Mit der Bitte um Verständnis und herzlichen Grüßen an Stanislav Aseyev.

and among other things I asked whether he believed rational communication between Nazis and Jews during the Second World War was possible.
Unfortunately, we never met in person. But I can now bring his reply into the public sphere as a small act of my personal remembrance of him:

One of the greatest thinkers of our time, Jürgen Habermas, has passed away, whose works we studied back at university.
Much later, in February 2023, I sent a letter to Herr Habermas through my publisher at Suhrkamp. The letter was a response to his call for dialogue between Ukraine and Russia..

The collective West: Putin must realize the inability to continue the invasion in its fifth year.
Reality: In just one week of war, the U.S. depleted military stockpiles meant for years, while Russia receives +$150 million daily from oil sales that had sanctions lifted.

The United States was clearly unprepared for this kind of warfare—especially considering that a ground operation in Iran has not even begun.

It must be acknowledged that Iran is acting far more effectively militarily than Russia has in Ukraine.
The widespread use of cheap aerial and naval drones allows it to inflict disproportionate economic damage on the United States and its allies.
In fact, it is precisely these drones...
