The idea that repressed emotions are behind very physiological illnesses is honestly such victim-blaming.

Correlation doesn’t equal causation and there’s so much bias (and grifting).

(Also, I don’t think anyone who’s ever heard any of my songs could possibly think I have repressed emotions.
😬😆)

It’s like this with music, too. You’d be surprised by how many names you’d recognize who aren’t able to make a living solely from their music.

Imagine all the great art we’re missing out on.

Image is a sticker of Nikkie dressed up as a mermaid, seated. Dark hair over one shoulder, arms outstretched in a “ta da” gesture, coral bikini top over a pale sweater meant to look like skin, tail made from a mermaid tail-style snuggie. Iridescent tail fins. Black kn95 respirator.

I’m sorry it did, and thank you. I’m glad they were open to including folks with lived experience. I hope it’s been helpful.

I mentioned you in this, @turnoftheshrew.bsky.social

“Hope is not a balm for the reality of pain, it is a witness to it.”

My dog has a few buttons so she can communicate with words, and one of the buttons says, “I love you.” I’m tickled pink when she pushes that one. (I’m not sure she means to push it, but I’ll take it, every time.)

It’s the same in Canada, without the insurers being in play, but cost is still definitely a factor. In the recommendations/guidelines, they cite incidental findings as the reasons for discouraging it. That and, making the patient worry needlessly which also feels inauthentic and secondary to cost.

“Hope is not a balm for the reality of pain, it is a witness to it.”

Hear, hear. 🙌

The hope never leaves. And, it’s not a cure. It’s there whether you’re improving, declining, or staying at the same baseline.

It seems it’s like pulling teeth to get MRIs ordered, or even other diagnostic imaging. I’ve heard they’re discouraged because of potential incidental findings. They don’t want to find more things that might warrant exploration. But, that leaves people without answers or effective treatments. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Every day is a new chance to become more ourselves. Maybe you can think of a tiny thing you could do today or tomorrow that would make you feel more like you.

That is weird. Hm. Bodies can be so strange. And, I feel like there are so many more medical mysteries than we’d like to think there are.

Ok I just google mapsed them, and there IS a 🍆 emoji in the window.. but like… there’s also a bunch of other imagery that seems unrelated..

Also, words on the sign, “and lots more…” doing some heavy lifting there
