Your Halo is a Swarm of Bees, by Avi Engel 6 track album

Name-your-price collection of guitar improvisations that I captured on a field recorder a decade ago. The title comes from a poem by Vasko Popa.

Your regular reminder that you DO NOT have to help fund literal Nazis with your Subst*ck: other easy-to-use and powerful newsletter/CMS backend options like Ghost are not just out there but waiting for you to put your money where your principles are.

Fascists and Nazis hate history, and historians; but understand the power of history. Thats why, across the world, they work so hard to control HOW we tell stories about the past, to drive out diverse critical voices and perspectives, to ensure a narrative that makes them look good.

Upping this again, if anyone has a few minutes to spare! It's just about your general tastes, and we all know there are always exceptions to every rule, so don't sweat about the answers too much. Many thanks to those who responded and / or reposted. You're gems, so you are.

Doing some of the new owner brainwashing materials! Ha, getting ahead of the game. While everyone moans about software they aren't getting any time soon, I'm being a good tool!

Amazing how many folk are just telling our new owners that they don't understand why they need a licence for business critical piece of software because they were just using a free version they downloaded from the Internet before!

97.4% of survey say that writing being written by a human is very important

97.4% of survey say that writing being written by a human is very important

A reminder that when "authors" who turn to AI slop claim that "everyone's doing it and it's fine" they're talking absolute bollocks.

They're either in deep denial or they're just lying to try and normalise the practice at everyone else's expense.

Also TIL about “shamstep” which is a fusion of traditional dance music from the Levant (Balad Al Shams) with hip hop. Here’s a Palestinian group 47Soul performing “Dabke System”: youtu.be/uEaSgzRdSv0?...

Digital painting of a night scene: dark trees stand out against a diffuse background. The sky is a dark blue, getting lighter in the lower half, where it is lit by city lights.

We report about a dank night in city lights: there is a sheen to the sky, pearlescent and vaguely eerie in the past-midnight brightness. Impossible to tell the hour, if not for the stillness of the world. We stumble, spooking a cat into hissing and crab-walking down the street.

We have extra onsite IT staff today as part of the switchover and a Teams channel, with a lassie sat in another country. Amazing how many folk will spam the group channel for their niche bullshit, rather than getting up off their arse and going to speak to onsite IT folk.

Well. Everyone else in the office may be using the identical default wallpaper, but not me. Hemification has been done.

I suspect those are the last bits that'll transfer. Everyone in factory uses a system, weird and customised to be unique to us. And of course that's the big thing none of us have access to yet.

Thing is, if the new version doesn't do what the previous version did, you've built in a learning curve that pisses folk off (me).

Oh yeah, just seeing Clownstrike there.

Amen. If we can get to base level I'll be retreating home.

I think all new versions of office are just rebranded for shit built in. Make it inescapable.

Still got to see if I can even get it to work from home. But I'm doing my usual and trying to minimise parasites. But of course so much is "managed by organisation". Meh.

And new laptops are VERY MS365PARASITE ENABLED. And worrying oh yeah, parasites make your life easier... but you need permission and it is €20/month licence.

What's worse than setting up a new laptop? Sitting in an office full of people setting up new laptops, while basic things like email are not updating and we can't see the server.

We've had some sneaky comments about VPN. Don't trust. At moment we have no access to servers and getting no new email.

1 day ago 0 0 1 0

Definitely going to be one of those days. And I'm ahead of a lot of folk.

1 day ago 1 0 1 0

Extra day in office while we do switchover from old IT to new IT. I've got Outlook open, but no emails since 3am. Which means I can't get the emailed verification code for Teams. I can access the cloud stuff I backed up. But not the actual server. Fun times.
