Stargate SG-1 has a great example of how to do it well; “Ripple Effect” in like season 10? Shit goes pear shaped, and multiple versions of the SG1 team from different histories end up in the prime base. (And it lasted long enough to have multiple jokes and bittersweet notes.)

I don’t specify often where I work but honestly there are some days where I have an intellectual inferiority complex. (Plus the grandparental bar that was set.)
I love that a whole mission in this campaign of #CriticalRole has been “we rescue a grad student”. And as a MLIS myself also I appreciate that Brennan and Marisha have not specified what program Demodus was on 🤣
I hate that this timeline has made me realize “I need to delete this cruel post about Bill O’Reilly because honestly it’s sad that he feels he needs to keep going on TV if he’s dealing with a chronic condition that put him in the hospital for 4 days in January”
Ew
I mean, fuck, BOBBY SINGER DID NOT DIE FOR YOU TO SLANDER UNCLES BY CHOICE LIKE THIS 🤣 #supernatural #putsomerespectonhisname
I have to believe that “uncle” as a developed role and honorific in so many cultures, outside biological relationships is not just about power (just because your uncles were cold assholes doesn’t mean everybody’s are.) Uncle and dad and older brother
is an aspirational and deep set of histories
This whole "men only really like their own children, they don't feel things like you do" thing is propaganda to induce women to breed with mean, selfish fuckers in hopes of changing them into people who want kids. It never works.
I would like to introduce you to my dad, maker of silly faces at every baby in a five-mile radius, and my late father-in-law, who spent more time making stupid duck noises at my toddler to make her laugh than I did.

This is about as terrifying as it gets when it comes to flying umbrellas. This is exactly how people end up impaled. While this incident happened in a stadium, it is much more common to see this happen on a beach. Buy a beach umbrella that meets new anchor safety standards this summer.
My mother’s gateway was Elizabeth I (they are both redheads with complex parental relationships 🤣 though Mom is very not a modern monarchist ) and so now medieval and early modern history/ history fiction are a second generation hyper fixation for me
(That and General Hospital = same detail 🤣)
This also had me thinking about the Provencale sisters (Mom and I read Nancy Goldstone’s 4 Queens book.)
When I was a teenager and fascinated by the history of my name (which was not nearly as popular in the US back in 1998) I was minorly obsessed with her. Even chose her as a topic for a college history paper.
This has now got me wondering, how many European queens married two kings? I can think of at least two others in the 15 seconds I have for a lunch break today, but I'm sure the number's considerably higher... OK back to teaching now!
“You won’t have to work anymore because tech is going to do your job” seems less aspirational and more threatening when the companies doing the tech are posting stuff like what the Thiel/Karp orbit companies post.
Especially when they’re actively cheering for a return to feudalism and slavery.
The thing I am getting from this is that human beings can run a half-marathon in an hour which is fucking amazing, hurrah human beings
Also who inside the admin (other than the resentful actual functioning FBI officials) can these Friday night knifings in article form be attributed to
Trump is in Vegas. It's Wrestlemania weekend, also in Vegas. There's no way Trump dies in the ring at Wrestlemania. But we can't rule it out.
it really is remarkable *how mild* the op-ed that she wrote was. It really shouldn’t matter what she said, but I think they chose to make an example of her precisely *because* she didn’t do anything remotely wrong. They wanted to show they could do this to anyone.
this feels like the envy rage of someone with low cultural capital and high material capital against someone with the relative opposite
have there been similarly culturally pervasive “everyone needs to start using this tech right now” pushes over such a relatively brief time frame as we’re currently seeing with LLMs? (This is a very genuine question)
* “The [clan name]
This suggests to me that “Mank” in this context is like “The Mackenzie” in Scottish clan context; only eldest or most respected gets it as an honorific
This is the most Josie apology that ever Josied
mamdani being a cheerful normal guy that people project absolute insane things on is one of the things that make him very relatable to me, personally
