more folks should know about this BS:
A federal appeals court said West Virginia’s policy denying Medicaid coverage to people seeking surgical treatment for gender dysphoria is *not discriminatory* bc it bans trans-specific healthcare for cis & trans people alike

This is bonkers.
“According to the school district, her daughter’s new student enrollment form was denied due to ‘license plate recognition software showing only Chicago addresses overnight’ in July and August.”
We've seen another morning of increased ICE activity with DHS helicopter out and about in Chicagoland.
Feds have taken people from Humboldt Park and Ravenswood. Vehicles also seen in Rogers Park. ICE watchers are asking north side neighbors to get outside and keep an eye on landscapers & laborers.
Meanwhile, in Vermont…
People are getting gassed for protesting ICE. Yep, that’s still going on. America sure is great, isn’t it?

This bill includes criminal penalties and a bounty provision. It also authorizes the state DMV to strip trans people off their current drivers licenses.

“In plain language, Sanchez Estrada is facing up to 20 years behind bars for allegedly moving a box of anarchist zines from his parents’ house to another residence in his hometown of Dallas.”
On January 10, 2026, while driving back to work after getting lunch with his father and cousin, a car quickly passed O., sped up, then stopped in front of him. (Id. ¶ 3.) A few men in civilian clothes stepped out of the car and asked for his identification. (Id.) The men threatened O.—if he did not get out of the car, they would force him out. (Id.) O. exited the car and was told he was under arrest. (Id.) The men handcuffed him and did not allow him to bring his phone. (Id.) O. felt like he was being kidnapped. (Id.) The men detained O., his father, and his cousin, taking them all to Whipple. (Id. ¶ 4.) At Whipple, there was “food scattered on the floor, the floor was sticky with mud, and everything stuck to your shoes.” (Id. ¶ 5.) The space was so cramped that sometimes there was no space to sit on the floor. (Id.)
The horror stories rolling in from Minnesota are just the tip of the iceberg. This 20-year-old, who's lawfully present in the country, was arrested for being Latino, then jailed in a filthy cell where he couldn't even sit down. 18 days of illegal detention. democracyforward.org/wp-content/u...

SCOOP: ICE is asking Social Security for peoples' in-person appointment dates and times, and SSA staff are being told to give it to them. From me + @leahfeiger.bsky.social + @zoeschiffer.bsky.social @wired.com

A universal tale. Doesn’t matter the city, county, or state.
Super Bowl viewers Sunday speculated that 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos appeared in the halftime show. In fact, he has been in hiding with his family.
“He can’t sleep well at night. He wakes up three or four times a night screaming, ‘Daddy, Daddy,’” Liam's father Adrian Conejo Arias, said.
This is making me laugh so hard. Like what a moron
We won't let this go. The UK cracked down on access to gender affirming care and trans youth suicides then the government covered it up. This also came amidst a massive push for anti trans policies more broadly among British political parties.

Some of the performers from the Bad Bunny halftime show kept the music going outside the stadium after the show and it turned into an impromptu street party.

Abolish ICE.
There’s no reforming it.
There’s no compromise.
There’s only one way to rein in ICE’s terror campaign. Abolish it.

It's annoying at first, but I did this earlier this year and, well, I sure was glad when I had a pile of feds on my back. I'll probably never use biometric unlocks for anything ever again.
ICE has been holding a disabled Black man for a year!
Rodney Taylor is a double amputee who was days away from receiving new prosthetic legs when ICE took him.
He’s been denied his prosthetics & placed in solitary.
His health is declining.
Public outrage might save his life.
Say his name:
Disability justice isn’t just about access.
It’s about power, liberation, and collective survival.
It says disabled people, especially those who are Black, brown, queer, poor, or marginalised deserve more than ramps and policies.
We deserve safety.
We deserve community.
ICE deported a 5-year-old US citizen to Honduras, where she had never been, after holding her & her mother in a hotel room 80 miles from home for several days and not allowing them access to a lawyer www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...
I’m ok. I’m a survivor so this small agitator isn’t going to intimidate me from doing my work.
I don’t let bullies win.
Grateful to my incredible constituents who rallied behind me. Minnesota strong.
It’s horrid little you had to go through that but it brings me so much joy you won’t have to be reminded of it now that you look at your gorgeous face in the mirror. 💜
ICE has killed 9 folks in the first 26 days of ‘26:
• Alex Pretti
• Renee Good
• Keith Porter
• Heber Sanchaz Domínguez
• Victor Manuel Diaz
• Parady La
• Luis Beltran Yanez-Cruz
• Luis Gustavo Nunez Caceres
• Geraldo Lunas Campos
They all deserve justice. And for us to remember their names.
After this, she answered our questions about immigration, helped a constituent figure out how to do their immigration appointment and receive SNAP benefits, and gave a local teen an award for building a cool app. I have never been more impressed with someone as a speaker and politician
Coward. We don’t want them to do raids in the cover of night with your law enforcement, we want them GONE. We want them abolished. We will remember your cowardice next election. You will go down in history as complicit in these atrocities. Burn in hell.
Beloved Minnesota, we don't want to leave you. But we have to return to Chicago for at least a few days to wrap up some reporting.
We need to purchase new safety gear and replenish funds. If you'd like to support our frontline and investigative work (we love monthly pledges!)—here's how to do that:
