Real world conversation:
Them: So. I read some of your stories.
Me: Oh no. I can explain.
Them: Can you!?
Me: Not really, no.

Credit where it's due, even to The Mouse: This is a VERY positive thing to do and was also probably incredibly difficult 👍

A round sticker like image of Go-Man, a red blue and yellow superhero, punching a robot with six fingers in the chest, as sparks go flying. The text reads "There's no AI in this book!"
A sticker I'm considering putting on my books at cons! Not that I think anybody would think I would use AI but you can't be too careful!
Ironically, the Go-Man books DO contain robot characters but that's another reason why generative AI sucks - I can't enjoy robot stories anymore! And robots rule!

This is actually pretty clever because everyone immediately made the brand connection without even thinking about it while it's just a standalone low budget movie with a single word title, so it get a little notoriety boost without having to pay Hasbro a cent.

A grid photo of 16 different characters all played by the legend Tim Curry.
Tim Curry, the absolute legend, turns 80 today. This man took huge swings.

I swear I'm not fudding but I think maybe America's entire business model being reliant on being at war with a minimum of 3 other countries might not actually be a good thing

One of the reasons that Barbie works is that Gosling is putting on a physical and practical spectacle and understands the joke on a deep level and executes it.

if you are a writer and are considering using a title that follows the format '[a/an/x] [word] of [word] and [word]' I am pleading with you to reconsider
it tells the reader almost nothing, it doesn't sell any vibe, and it was already overused ten years ago
please please please pick something else

there's an asymmetry of violence where if someone spends billions of dollars changing laws that end up killing me they get invited to galas but if I show up at their house with a brick I go to jail

About teaching an eleven-year-old Magic: we have a How to Play Magic area in the Bibloplex (I still cannot get over the part where THEY BUILT ME A BIBLIOPLEX). A dude came in with his daughter. He already knew and enjoyed Magic, but she didn't want to learn from her dad. Kids sometimes don't.

Okay, I won’t elaborate but the pre-climactic battle was unexpectedly cathartic.
I *do* think the writers forgot the idea of the raptors “being animals not monsters” by the climactic battle but whatever.

Okay, while I’ve got questions about some of the filmmaking and/or acting choices, I have to give props to the creative team for what they accomplished on a modest budget. Like, the dinosaur visuals are very impressive.

a woman says mama needs her medicine
Alt: An animated gif from the TV series, The Good Place. It shows Mindy St. Claire (Maribeth Monroe) tearfully saying, “Mama needs her medicine.”
Okay, I am enjoying Tricia Helfer as Sofia, the Russian paleontologist who is *not* coping well. I appreciate the character/film emphasizing that dinosaurs are wild animals, not monsters.
