A colorful illustration of the front of a library with a librarian at the door waving to members of the community outside. A banner over the library reads "FIND YOUR JOY!" Logos for American Library Association and Library Champions in top right. Text below the illustration reads "Celebrate NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK, April 19-25, 2026"
It's #NationalLibraryWeek! Take time to discover what brings you joy at your library: browse the shelves, join a book club, attend a program, or get started on your next creative project in a makerspace.
Be sure to visit your library or ilovelibraries.org and celebrate your library all week long!

I would love it if those of you who do not have library cards will apply for one at your local branch during #NationalLibraryWeek. Then let me know about it. 😇

A picture of a rather dilapidated copy of "The picture of Dorian Gray" There is visible water damage to the cover and the plastic cover is yellowing. Obviously, not evident from the picture but there is a truly foul musty smell emanating from it!
Last week, a gentleman returned this rather dilapidated copy of this famous book to us after 50 years. He had found it in his attic!
Presumably this means there is a pristine copy somewhere in our libraries....

“It wasn’t going to be a fair fight nationally if you try steel seats in Texas, in N Carolina, and in Missouri…
What were we supposed to do, nothing? Just allow them to try to stack the deck…to steal seats? All we’re trying to do is…make the system as fair as it can possibly be.”

How tragic that you could publish, then re-publish, then re-publish, then re-publish, then re-publish a cartoon like this over and over again...

This is a snapshot of the failure of MSM and the concomitant ignorance within the American electorate about what is happening in and to their country.

Today, President Barack Obama and I read to a group of toddlers at Learning Through Play Pre-K Center in the South Bronx.
In between singing wheels on the bus, we discussed our administration’s vision for this City — one where New York’s Cutest have the strongest start possible.

anyway I think the lesson everyone should be learning here is that DEI was probably really fucking good for the armed forces because it meant you were hearing opinions like "hey so supply chains matter" and "yo maybe the troops should eat a food"

Pope Leo XIV: Jesus told us, blessed are the peacemakers. But woe to those who manipulate religion and the very name of God for their own military, economic, or political gain, dragging that which is sacred into darkness and filth.

This is Missy. She escaped from her backyard and ran straight to daycare, where she had a spa day and got to play with her boyfriend. Lessons were learned, but not the ones her parents probably hoped. 13/10 (TT: spotsplaceyqr)

Temperatures showing high forecast and comparison to normal on Wednesday.
Get ready for April to act like July 🥵 Near and above 90 Tue-Thu, with records under threat daily.
A 3-day 90s streak? Would be the second earliest on record if it happens. Earliest 90+ since 2013 almost certain. DC’s avg first 90 isn’t until May 18. Close to 30 degrees above normal at peak...ick.

This is very true! And as the research on the issue shows and as the Hungarian example confirms, and the Polish one before that, the key to large turnout is long-term, grass-roots organizational labor that helps people understand how their single vote is a dignified part of a larger transformation.

Sid Krofft, Co-Creator of Mind-Blowing Kids TV Shows, Dies at 96
The puppeteer and his late brother Marty partnered on 'The Banana Splits Adventure Hour,' 'H.R. Pufnstuf,' 'Land of the Lost' and much more.
Farewell Sid Krofft, one half of the Canadian brotherly duo whose multiple, bizarre, live-action kids’ shows, most featuring life-size puppets, made Saturday mornings must-see TV during the 1970s.
(One correction: “Lidsville” did not use Claymation. “Land of the Lost” used stop-motion animation.)
