Bryan Cranston on auditions, from his autobiography Life in Parts Breck suggested that I focus on process rather than outcome. I wasn't going to the audition to get anything: a job or money or validation. I wasn't going to compete with the other guys. I was going to give something. I wasn't there to get a job. I was there to do a job. Simple as that. I was there to give a performance. If I attached to the outcome, I was setting myself up to expect, and thus to fail. My job was to focus on character. My job was to be interesting. My job was to be compelling. Take some chances. Serve the text. Enjoy the process. And this wasn't some semantic sleight of hand, it wasn't some subtle form of barter or gamesmanship. There was to be no predicting or manipulating, no thinking of the outcome. Outcome was irrelevant. I couldn't afford any longer to approach my work as a means to an end. Once I made the switch, I was no longer a supplicant. I had power in any room I walked into. Which meant I could relax. I was free.
Stumbled upon this online! I hope it gives you hope when you feel like you’re in an audition/booking slump! I feel inspired reading it :) #acting #voiceactor #voiceacting

Check it out at beccasu.com and feel free to let me know what you think!
Okay, real talk. I have a hard time posting on social media sometimes and end up doom scrolling instead!
How about we make a VA positivity thread? Share good things, encouraging words, etc.

Honestly, I was feeling a little overwhelmed… but I realized I need to reframe my mind!
It’s not that I “have to do” a lot of recording… it’s that I ✨get to✨ voice act, play, be creative, and do something I love doing!
Hey! This looks amazing and it's bringing me extreme retro arcade vibes, which I love!! Here is my demo reel. I would love to be a part of it in any capacity!
Next time a text slips through and I forget to respond for a day, I’ll just say I’m bringing snail mail speed back ✉️✉️✉️

-Check on loved ones and try not to panic. Earthquakes are common here and they are scary, so it’s about knowing what to do quickly when it happens. Sometimes you don’t even feel them at all.

Stay safe!!

-Earthquakes can FEEL different depending on many factors: how far you are from the epicenter, magnitude, what kind of motion the tectonic plates had, what floor of the building you’re on (ex: yesterday’s felt BOOMING but short to me, but also I’ve felt ones that sway, shake, last very long, etc)
🧵4
~If you’re outdoors, stay outdoors and go away from buildings.
~Other earthquake facts:
-Aftershocks are common, so prepare for more shaking after you feel an earthquake (it could be bigger or smaller)
🧵3
-If you are not near a table, go away from walls with windows to avoid broken glass. Put legs in, duck head, and cover head and neck with both hands.
-If you are in bed, turn face down and cover your head and neck with a pillow.
-Standing in a doorway is actually not the safest; that’s a myth!

Earthquake PSA for people new to CA: 🧵
~If it happens and you’re indoors, stay indoors!
-TL;DR: DROP, COVER, and HOLD to protect yourself from fallen debris.
-If you’re near a table, go underneath, hold a table leg, duck your head, and other hand on back of your neck.
