Memorandum of Disapproval

I have today vetoed H.R. 11897, a bill which would name the United States Courthouse and Federal Office Building in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the "President Gerald R. Ford Federal Office Building."

Although I appreciate the honor expressed by the Congress in enacting this legislation, I intend to continue the policy of past Administrations that the executive branch not endorse the naming of Federal office buildings. Generally, the executive branch has deferred to the desires of the Congress on such matters.

Although several Federal office buildings have been named for incumbent members of the Congress, I know of none that have been named for a President while still in office. I consider it improper for me as an incumbent President to approve legislation which places my name on a Federal building. This is a precedent I do not wish to establish.

In general, I feel this way: office buildings which house the functions of Government should not be used as monuments to Federal officials, but rather as workshops for the people's business.

In particular, I would hope our Presidents will be remembered for their labors in building better Government rather than for their efforts in constructing public works projects to themselves.

If the president cannot be sued while in office, then the president should not be able to file suit while in office. Fair is fair.

Thune erupts on Senate floor over shutdown | CNN Politics An irate Majority Leader John Thune erupted at Democratic Sen. Ben Ray Luján on the Senate floor as frustrations continue to mount amid the government shutdown.

Note to EVERY Democrat: Your response should be as follows:

"GFY. You have the audacity to blame us after you and your entire party sold out to a dictator wannabe? You worship at the teat of a tyrant yet you scold us? Where is your backbone? Where is your love of country? I say again -- GFY."

Never in the history of the US has any president openly and repeatedly called for the investigation, arrest & prosecution of his political opponents. While many continue to shrug these things off and normalize them, I will never stop pointing out that this is what autocrats do.

Someone should adapt the 💩 dumping video to show the people he's hurting. The folks who depend on the Affordable Care Act. The judges whose orders are being ignored. The kids who need special education services. The cancer researchers. The people asking for the Epstein files to be released.

There is no world in which it is normal for the president to publicly call upon his attorney general to hurry up and prosecute his political foes. It’s like the Watergate tapes but posted on social media. Let’s get a grip on what’s happening here.

Unless I see Trump voiding all Musks contracts I won’t believe this is anything but another scam to elect republicans.

What are the odds the America party runs candidates in just a few targeted districts solely to keep Democrats from taking back the House?

One of the most chilling sentences I have ever read.

We are now a country where the government just regularly threatens to imprison opposition officials for speech it doesn't like.

Feels worth repeating every now and again.

So much of this presidency is “what if everything we’ve learned since the Crusades were wrong?”

Al Gore didn’t hold back: The Trump admin is “attacking the heart of truth,” twisting facts like the Nazis did in the 1930s. From climate denial to rewriting the Ukraine war, it’s all about power—not reality.
Gore warned the U.S. is under siege—and every former leader should speak out like he did.

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

Not true. Biden Harris were not elitist snobs. This is on republicans becoming a anti democrat party of lies and the media that pushed those lies.
