Hey, @mdhumanservices.bsky.social What does a terminal Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer patient have to do around here to get SNAP benefits in Howard County?? Phone interview was randomly assigned to me for 9:30am today. No one called. BUT said online that I "missed my call." I did not. THEY did.
Most times, living with terminal cancer REALLY sucks. That's probably an understatement.
But sometimes, I reframe my mindset and use it for good:
• Participate in research
• Arrange to donate my body for cancer research
• Write a song focused on my legacy.
What do you do when you are handed 🍋?

It’s left people at risk of being denied loans, housing or employment.
Fingerprint keychains (on left) are definitely the most commonly requested items that we gift to families as part of our @3wishesprogram.bsky.social. I can hardly believe it, but a generous donor/volunteer has now offered to create & donate engraved, personalized ones (on right). My heart is full.

This makes Chicago the biggest city in the country to endorse Medicare for All, and sends a message to federal legislators that their constituents expect them to support single payer.

We had a request for a birthday party for a dying patient last week. Unfortunately, the patient died before that.
Live every day like it's your birthday.

REHAB DISCHARGE EMERGENCY CARD If told your loved one must leave rehab: 1 Ask for the Notice of Medicare Non-Coverage (NOMNC). 2 Call the number on it & request a FAST APPEAL (Deadline: Noon next day). 3 "I cannot safely accept this patient at home. This is an unsafe discharge." 4 Call your state Long-Term Care Ombudsman immediately. Remember: Insurance decisions do NOT determine medical safety.

I will never forget what it was like working as an ICU physician during the pandemic. There were many days that I went back to my hotel crying because of the patients we lost.
I hate this so much.
I remember when my mom, who’s in her 70s, and I heard Kamala Harris announce her care-at-home plan. We were so excited. She even explained it was cheaper than hospital care. To us, it felt like someone was actually planning to make healthcare better.
Now look where we are.

That’s what everyone with measles does. They go to the ER. Unfortunately, hospitals are full of newborns too young to be vaccinated; frail, older adults; and people who are immunocompromised. All can get incredibly sick or die from measles
