One thing I find interesting is that despite seemingly the ENTIRE INDUSTRY trying to kill VR and make it seem as uncool as possible... VRChat has grown almost every month for almost eight years now and is among the top 25 most played things on Steam.
Niche? Perhaps, but a big & hungry one.

if somehow we could've gotten all of vrchat to experience that instance pre- and post-skeleton, they'd understand.
I won't come look at myself using my personal mirror in your club anymore. (this is a threat)
but even then, we have a ton of other problems to solve:
- cameras (world & user)
- stations
- manage shaders being weird
- stations...
- bounding boxes
- who owns configuration (ppl gonna shit themselves)
- stations??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
maybe one day if we have an even more impostery-impostor, we could load that simultaneously as the long distance version
"dude why do i have to optimize my avatar thats just not fa-"
whatever bro say goodbye to your sins
diamonds also serve more of a purpose than just "dont render for perf reasons", they were designed also as a way to get rid of avatars visually if there's too many. replacing them with impostors re-introduces several problems diamonds solve
its a net performance loss in some cases, not a slam dunk gain
you'd have to keep both the impostor AND the original avatar in memory because otherwise you'd have to unload/reload every time someone passed your X meter distance
we thought about it really early on & it didn't pass muster
Contact me via Discord
Can you send me game logs that covers the session when you clicked join but it failed? It would help a ton. We've been having serious issues tracking down instances of this happening.
"Safe" means:
1. Safe from account stealing/hijacking in theory
2. Safe from account stealing/hijacking in execution
3. Safe from Discord bans in theory/in execution
On a scale of 0 to 10, where 0 is "fuck no, never" and 10 is "totally and completely safe", how safe are these Discord third party clients like Vencord, BD, etc
Asking for context setting and risk management rather than personal use, I'd never use them myself
There will always be a "im so close to poor" argument. Example I think if they bumped tris to 100k, after like 3 years when the "newness" wears off / when new players start to fill out the platform people will start going "100k is too low, im only over by a little, we need to raise it"
2/2
Fuck yes
It's not enough because if you run that status quo out to infinity you get nothing but VPs that have every other VP turned off.
So this is what we're doing about the very poor problem huh
there is no greater way of making someone feel like they belong than asking them for help. there is no greater way of proving that you belong than offering it!
so fuckedf up.......................
DUUUUDE
Hi #VRChat ! Just recently had people that were curious about my workflow for avatar optimization and figured it was the best time to share it. Keep in mind, this is *my* workflow and that doesn't mean it's the best, but this really works for me!
Here's a thread! ๐งต
good post. excellent post, even. let me cover your 10bux
hit me up on discord for sure
qdot you know how qrts work here right
genuinely ecstatic that y'all are overall happy and are welcoming this feature
WHERE IS IT FEED IT TO MEEEEEE
Maybe it's just because the target keeps moving. Ten years ago it was arch, AUR, virtualization
Now it's cachy, immutability, and compatibility layers
Calm the fuck down and concentrate on making things work, damn
Meanwhile desktop Linux, despite 25 years of attempts, shits itself and dies as soon as I have the expectation of "if I install this, it should work, right?"
EXACTLY
I appreciate all the folks replying with "oh if you just spend a little time learning you'll figure it out" but like I've done that in windows for basically 30 years and I know how to make NT do what the fuck I want
