Public School Pre-K Teachers Are Professionals, But Aren’t Treated That Way From pay to professional development to coordination with colleagues in higher grades, schools have a long way to go, study finds.

There are over 70,000 pre-K teachers working in public schools but they often fall through the crack between ECE and K-12 policy.

We asked 1,368 public school-based pre-K teachers across the country about the materials they use, their instructional resources and planning time, and how their programs align with elementary grades. Read more in my new co-authored report: www.rand.org/t/rra3279-3

And finally, 28% of teachers said they’d witnessed or heard about an antisemitic incident in their school in the past year. In classrooms with more than 20% Jewish students, a whopping 51% said they’d witnessed such an incident

Many teachers rely on materials they found online (from YouTube, resource aggregators like Teachers Pay Teachers) and materials they’ve made themselves to teach about these topics

Less than half of teachers said they’d received any professional learning on teaching these topics

Other topics related to Jewish people and history are much less prevalent.

Current events seem to drive focus: Many teachers said they taught about the Arab-Israeli conflict more than in previous years
