In theory the point the sun is highest in the sky should be at noon (12 pm). However due to daylight saving and countries like China with only one time zone noon can actually be as late as 3pm. This #dataviz shows the sun's highest point in the day as the year progresses.

Here in the UK March has been warmer and sunnier than average. It has been very wet in the west of Scotland and north-west England and dry elsewhere. Here is a climate/weather #dataviz summary for the past year.
Today at 2:46β―pm (GMT) the sun is going to return to the northern hemisphere (the March equinox). Here is a #dataviz showing the path of the sun from different perspectives as the year progresses.
Come March, the buds on the tree's begin to burst, this #dataviz shows the timing of bud burst for different tree species across the UK. The black lines show the timing in the Spring for the years 2000 to 2025 and the blue line is the average day for that species.
Terry Pratchett died 11 years ago today and he still brings me great pleasure to this day. Here is a #dataviz showing his published discworld books by year.
If you are one of the people criticising the decision that 'nature' will be the theme of our new banknotes, please note:
You are not criticising the government, nor Labour, nor the Chancellor, nor the Bank of England.
You are criticising the public, who chose 'nature' above all other options.
Here in the UK, February has been mild, wet and very dull. Overall the winter has been very wet except in West Scotland and mild except for a cold period at the start of January. Here is a #dataviz summary of the weather and climate for the past 12 months. #climatechange #globalwarming
Provisional Met Office stats show:

We use 30 year averages to show climatology (average weather conditions). During the 20th century the UK climatology followed a path around a confined box. With #globalwarming and #climatechange they have escaped out the box. This #dataviz shows UK rainfall and temperature.
Good to escape the distortions of The Algorithm long enough to note that, outside this ridiculous echo chamber, the population has a high and increasing level of trust in academics and scientists, and no time for social media influencers. π§ͺ

Here in the UK it is cold and wet but there is at least the positive that the days are getting longer quite rapidly now. At 51 degrees north where I live we will gain an extra 24 minutes of daylight this week as this #dataviz shows.
Here in the UK January was very cold at the start of the month and then mild and very wet for the rest of it (except in West Scotland). It had average sunshine. Here is a #dataviz of the weather/climate summary for the past year. #globalwarming #climatechange
A screenshot of Lala and Po from the teletubbies. The screenshot is clearly taken from someone's phone, as the borders of the tv can be seen, as well as glimpses into the apartment behind them. Po is in bed wrapped up in a blanket. The text below them reads "I know you were high at my mother-in-laws funeral..."
More screenshots from the Teletubbies. Lala seems to be upset with a terrified Po. the text below reads "Did you kill the dog? Why would you do that?!"
A third screenshot from the Teletubbies, this time the same scene as before. Po is wearing an apron while Lala seems to still be upset at him. The text below reads "You're nothing but a failure of a man."
In the 2010s, the Icelandic tv station Channel 2 accidentally added subtitles from a gritty crime drama to an episode of Teletubbies.
I have translated some of the highlights
Although its very cold at the moment in the UK, 2025 was both the warmest (with a mean temperature of 10.09Β°C) and sunniest (1648.5 hours) on record. Here is a climate and weather #dataviz summary for the last year. #climatechange #globalwarming.

Time series of global temperature anomalies from 1980 to present with predictions for 2025 (made in Dec 2024), and 2026, along with the YTD estimate for the 2025 (with only one month to go).
Scientists are supposed to be happy when their predictions are skillful, right?
Why do I not feel happy?
And Tiny Tim, who did NOT die, was eventually traced to the slums of Whitechapel around 1888.
Hm.
The #1 movie when you were 10 years old is how your 2026 is going to go.

Bronze plaque saying "A Letter to the Future. Ok is the first Icelandic glacier to lose its status as a glacier. In the next 200 years all our glaciers are expected to follow the same path. This monument is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it. August 2019. 415ppm CO2"
TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from OkjΓΆkull to Ok (jΓΆkull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".
Have you noticed that around the winter solstice the latest sunrise and earliest sunset do not coincide? This is because the earth day is very rarely 24 hours. This means solar noon is changing faster than day length is changing. This #dataviz shows this for London sunrise and sunset times.
Here is the UK November was mostly warmer than average but with a week long cold snap towards the end. It was wet for most with average sunshine. Here is a climate/weather summary for the last year. #dataviz #climatchange #globalwarming

We grant access to the office network. We added a fictitious lady called Morag McTuckus to the directory who we can have 'meetings' with off-site. We also reply to email for her. It's gone undetected for so long we're now considering hiring an actor to play her at the xmas party

Ryan Moulton @moultano Oil is the most Lovecraftian thing that actually exists. You're telling me that there's a black ichor under the earth, made from the ancient dead, whose burning can realize all the dreams of man but only at the price of slowly returning the earth to its primordial state?
