Op-ed out today in @thesicktimes.org from PLRC co-lead @leticiasaurus.bsky.social and @jencurtinmd.bsky.social on the #LongCovid Treatment Guide!
“Too often, people with Long COVID hear… not much can be done for them at this point. We… believe it is a fallacy that hinders access to care”
Anyone getting paid today? Please share either way! Thanks!! 💞
Threads post by @access.ecology that reads “ N95s have done more to help me survive the past 6 years of ableism than 99.9% of humans have done to help me survive 44 years of ableism. So yeah, this N95 is staying on.”

Appreciate you, too!

Y'all know @dec0l0nize.bsky.social yet? You should. There aren't really words to describe how vital it is for folks to live according to their values in the committed and thorough way that he does. It's all for the collective. Please share and send what you can! ID below.
If you don't have any intimate relationships with disabled folks you're wasting your life. Truly, you’re just straight up throwing your life in a dumpster and lighting it on fire. Y'all have no idea what you're missing. You aren't just missing out on us, you're missing out on yourselves! Everything.
Snowstorms are more than just an inconvenience for wheelchair users. Inadequate snow clean-ups means a loss of autonomy for many. New for me at @motherjones.com www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
I am seriously disturbed by how rampant body/penis shaming is among the collective but particularly leftists. I even hear parents of children with penises using phrases like “big dick energy” etc and it blows my mind and just makes me so sad.
Graphic showing an old desktop computer with a pixelated red umbrella, an international symbol for sex worker rights, on the screen. The image’s background is black with white pixels. The text reads, “The Sick Times. Long COVID advocacy is incomplete without sex workers. Destigmatizing Black queer sex workers makes our movement stronger By Khalil (Kae) Dennis.”
There’s so much built into our identities [as sex workers] that makes navigating COVID easier. We’re just straightforward, because that’s what we do in sex work. - Raquel Savage Black queer sex worker, therapist, and founder of Zepp Wellness who has Long COVID
This week at The Sick Times, @khaoticaa.bsky.social writes that #LongCOVID advocacy is incomplete without sex workers, and that destigmatizing Black queer sex workers will make the movement stronger. bit.ly/4qfFyv4
the anti-blackness + anti-indigeneity in folks’ indifference to congo, sudan, west papua, haiti, and other black nations facing genocide is beyond unsettling!

From my in 2021 journal. I often don't know how to hold the depth of my grief, but honoring it in all of its power gives me a sense of meaning and purpose when I don't know how or why I would want to keep going. 2/2
May we feel the pain of our abandonment by those more privileged so we can be with the pain of those we hold power over and have also abandoned. May we recognize the impact of people who aren’t invested in our survival and respond by becoming invested in the survival of those we hold power over. 1/2
It’s been so comforting to know you are here being you in all of your wonderful ways. Thank you!
As a birthworker for 20 years and chronic illness survivor for even longer, I strongly recommend that you not follow their teachings or advice, let them massage you, or touch your spine or body. And know: it's ok to ask folks' beliefs when exploring care. If they say otherwise that's a red flag.
Anti-trans "wellness" workers, bodyworkers, birthworkers, etc. aren't just bigoted. They also lack knowledge about basic biology, anatomy, and science.
You are worthy and deserving of so much more. My mask remains on and my heart will never grow tired of loving you.
On Long Covid Awareness Day, my heart is with all who can’t get out of bed, no longer have a home, have lost custody of kids, can't access any amount of healthcare, have been left behind by so many who claim to be fighting for collective liberation, have lost loved ones, and those no longer alive.
Did you know that deaf/disabled incarcerated people often experience language attrition, or the loss of the ability to express themselves as fully as they were, prior to incarceration?
Prisons are isolating + sustained sign language communication is rare.
#DisabilityRights and #DisabilityJustice includes justice for disabled people that are most marginalized, forgotten, and silenced
This includes immunocompromised people as it’s an “invisible disability”
The world (incl. other disabled people) abandoned us when they stopped wearing a mask in public
Trans folks are worth protecting, and...cis folks need to be dismantling transphobia not just for us but for themselves and everyone including kids of all genders. 2/2
No person of any age or gender is safe around transphobic people, even transphobic people. Who knew people consumed by knowing and policing *every single child and adult's* genitalia are unsafe to the general public. 1/2
the palm of the patriarchy's hand doing its dirty work. When you choose bigotry over women you choose your own demise. Anti-trans equals anti-woman. (2/2)
Anti-trans cis women are the patriarchy in action. Body shaming, body policing, exclusion, division, and insertion of unchecked insecurity and unfounded claims that trans women pose a threat (in sports, restrooms, beyond) is violence against trans women/folks (and kids!) but also has you in (1/2)
I do the same thing, the only way to survive an email inbox if you ask me
And pay attention long enough, many say more anti-trans or ableist things, too. Tell them, regardless of health views: bigotry is violent. 3/3
