HAPPENING TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!! COME THROUGH!!!!!!!!!
There’s more (including my new collection, Differential Diagnosis!!!) if you count stuff marketed as poetry, but yeah.
Ok what about Dhalgren!! I was told (by andrea Lawlor, one of the main reasons failure to comply exists) that i needed to read it, once they read what was then a very rough draft of FTC.
Also Zer000 excess by Jake Reber, also a soft influence on failure to comply.
my excitement for PPV has me itching for type stunts (complimentary) book club, including it &
- @cavar.bsky.social's Failure to Comply
- Tristram Shandy
- Saroyan's Minimal Poems
- Apollinaire's Calligrams
what are your faves in this game, book friends?
Wait are we doing poetry and poetics too or just “”””prose”””” (as it were) bc we can autism this out right here.
I promised a second thread on Plastic, Prism, Void & here it is! This time I want to talk about it as writing, not as typesetting. And I want to talk about it as writing about love, specifically about trying to be loved as a trans woman.
(remembering to put the pre-order link at the top this time!)
I interviewed incarcerated poet and activist Jamie Silvonek about her debut collection, Marginal Verse @gameoverbooks.bsky.social. Check it out @fifthwheelpress.bsky.social. You do not want to miss this book by an immensely talented new poet.
FWIW, I’ve learned a lot from you. My mom was adopted in a closed adoption in the 60s, and following adoptees has helped me understand the context of her life a lot more. Plus, critiques of adoption have done so much for the youth liberation movement at large. I’m v grateful to read this work.
picture of the 8th thesis. text reads: The tradition of the oppressed teaches us that the "state of emergency" in which we live is not the exception but the rule. We must attain to a conception of history that is in keeping with this insight. Then we shall clearly realize that it is our task to bring about a real state of emergency, and this will improve our position in the struggle against Fascism. One reason why Fascism has a chance is that in the name of progress its opponents treat it as a historical norm. The current amazement that the things we are experiencing are "still" possible in the twentieth century is not philosophical. This amazement is not the beginning of knowledge-unless it is the knowledge that the view of history which gives rise to it is untenable.
Benjamin wrote his "Theses on the Philosophy of History" in 1940, shortly before he died by suicide escaping the Nazis. Imagine, now, Hannah Arendt reading this aloud to fellow refugees fleeing the Third Reich on the ship that was smuggling them to the U.S.
i really wish "children are people and people are not property" was not a radical opinion but unfortunately it's the central question up for debate with much of politics
Come through!!!!!!!
Two girls in their bedroom look out at a giant snake. Illustration and cover designed by Never Angeline North, who is also the author of Black Hole Science Is Filled with a Apologies. A poetry (??) collection of varied genres, styles and flavors, encompassing work from the last ten plus years.
"Anyone interested in (re)turning to the spiritual + awestruck in the poetic but sick of conventional approaches to spiritual poetics needs to read this one, stat." What a lovely review of Never's BLACK HOLE SCIENCE 🌠🌠, thank you @cavar.bsky.social !!

I edited this issue, and I think it's pretty awesome!!!! Check it out and buy a copy at the link!
Very unimpressed by pop neurodiversity influencers and their AI apologia.
More bullshit claiming that anti-AI stances are classist and ableist and racist.
Meanwhile, AI is built on exploited black labor, kills disabled people every day, disposesses the working class, and drinks all our water.
I got acutely complicated feelings from this fine dark story by @cavar.bsky.social

“Why didn’t she go to the police?”
Because they don’t believe her.
“Why doesn’t she name names?”
Because no one believes her.
“Why didn’t she try harder to get away?”
Because she’s most likely to be killed while trying to escape.
Believe women.
That’s how you enact change
i don't know who that child is or what they've become. i remember they said, okay, and suggested we played mermaids. i remember their mom thanking me for watching the child while she took a break. we had a fun time. i never saw the kid again.
but a new possibility opened that day, and that matters.
TDOV. thinking about how being a visibly trans adult can change+save a child's life. years ago, i went to a public pool in swim trunks + top surgery scars. a kid asked if i was a boy or a girl and i said some people are neither. i still remember the excitement and fascination on that child's face.
PSA: if you are tipping a sex worker on a website that is not directly selling their work, i.e. their cash account, don't mention sex work in the tip and try to suggest it is for something mundane like "a tip for your blog" or something. Payment processors are more evil than Churches.
“…disabled people are actually less likely to drive than nondisabled people and more likely to get around by walking and rolling and taking transit. Car-heavy cities are also disproportionately dangerous for disabled folks…”— @nondriver.bsky.social
Don’t use accessibility “as a political football.”
unfortunately still completely broke. bills have been hell, getting the house back to speed after dealing with a rat infestation has been hell. not about to starve today, but i'd like to be sure about the rest of the week; help would be huge. thank you all a lot. <3
Walking thru the “Ultra Normie” No Kings rally in my extremely rural, white town and there are Patagonia wearing moms carrying signs that say “DEAD PEDOPHILES DONT REOFFEND” and “ICE GETS THE WALL” and I hi fived an old guy with a sign that said MY DADDY FOUGHT NAZIS AND SO WILL I” this is wild
I said "good turnout" to the older lady next to me, and she said "I think we have enough people to go to the White House and drag him out, and I think that's what it's going to take."
