Honestly, I think we're better off being left out of the fight.

Definitely an O'Keefe vibe to this one. :D
That's exactly how I spend my time if I'm caught up with work and have the house to myself. :D
I'll be playing a fretless bowed/plucked electric stringed instrument I made... fretless so I can fit in with whatever tuning. I expect the flute will determine the tuning, since it's the least flexible. I'll probably bring a little Korg Monotron and effects, since noise goes with everything.
I'll be playing at the Red Room in Baltimore this coming Thurs (4/9). If you're around, please stop by to check it out. I'll be playing with vocalist Marie Herrington and Native American flutist Dave Benham, neither of whom I've ever met. 1/2
Great song, and she sang it best. But let's not forget the man who wrote the song: Abel Meeropol.
No one said it was a high-quality replica. Why shouldn't a crappy replica of a trout mask look more like a carp?
I like how the blurriness of the background elements overlaid by the sharp foreground creates a strong sense of depth. I'll have to try that out, but I work in acrylic, which doesn't lend itself as well to blurriness. Something for me to think about. I learn so much looking at art on bsky.
vibrant multi-layered chaos of multicolored brush-strokes and squiggles
Second round painting, acrylic on wood. One of the nice things about these wood circles is that you can paint on both sides... more bang for the buck. Haven't done that yet, but will.
oof
round painting with striated texture, many colors, with circular swirls scattered throughout. Hopefully doesn't look too much like a pepperoni pizza
First round painting, acrylic on wood. "Peacock". Exploring textures lately, so this could fit the #artchallenge #texture...
Zakir Hussein was the king of tabla. I saw him perform live maybe 30 years ago. Hariprasad Chaurasia (flute) performed and recorded with him often in the late 20th century. The tradition is passed on in families, so I'm assuming Rakesh must be his son.
Rakesh must be Hariprasad's son?

She slept under the piano in my studio space at Bard, and used to make me drive her around to buy cigarettes. She was absolutely one-of-a-kind.
Saw these guys last night in Baltimore: daveballou.bandcamp.com/album/flat-rat
Great show! I talked to Dave for a minute afterwards... asked him how much the cassette was. He said, "I don't know", then reached in his bag, thanked me for coming and gave me one.
I think a better one would be the outline of a woman he drew on the Epstein birthday card, with the signature as the pubic hair.
All these Pauline Oliveros recordings being released... I wonder why they sat on these for so long. How much more is in the "vault"?
When was this recorded? Pauline passed ten years ago.
the poison and the antidote
I'm always impressed by these artist's impression space pictures. This one is particularly good.
You're on fire lately, IMO.
I have the same guitar. 1960 Gibson Melody Maker.
this is exceptional.
Good stuff! I recognize Crispell's name from her work with Anthony Braxton. This is in a similar vein.
where the demons dwell. where the banshees live, and they do live well
Ask him about working at SANE/Freeze in the 90s. :D
I have this record! It's so different from his other stuff.
At times it sounds more like King Crimson than Gong. Enjoying this very much.
