The Black maternal health crisis unfolding across the South is not just a policy shift: It is a moral crisis.
Both the Black church tradition and Catholic social teaching call us to center the dignity of every person and to stand with those most vulnerable to harm.
There is no reason that pregnancy loss should be criminalized. Period.
Abortion is healthcare.
Abortion is lifesaving.
Abortion is normal.
Abortion is safe.
Abortion is essential.
God’s creation is complex, not narrow.
Your purpose is not bound by gender or biology.

It is because of our faith, and not in spite of it, that we continue the struggle for reproductive freedom and justice for all. As we celebrate, may we also reflect on the ongoing struggle for reproductive freedom and equality.
It was because of Mary Magdalene’s faith, not in spite of it, that she chose to proclaim the resurrection and fulfillment of God’s promise to us all.
On the very first Easter Sunday, Jesus appeared to St. Mary Magdalene before anyone else. For a moment in time, Mary Magdalene was the church. She did not abandon Jesus even when other disciples did.
On Holy Saturday, our faith is tested, and our hearts are heavy.
But in these challenging times, we remain committed to hope and justice.
As we mirror Christ by kneeling to wash our neighbors' feet, we must fight for the rights and dignity of all.
