Earlier this week, I enjoyed visiting Francis C. Hammond Middle School for VSP’s Eyes of Hope Mobile Clinic. This program provides eye exams and glasses to public schoolers to help them remain engaged in the classroom, and I’m thankful to VSP for providing this service in our community.

Alexandria lost a giant this weekend, former Del. Marian Van Landingham. She was the founder of the Torpedo Factory, the first woman to chair the VA House's Privileges & Elections Committee, and its most senior woman when she retired in 2005. I am so grateful for her service and to have known her.

Yesterday, I was excited to visit Woodbine Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center and the Alexandria Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center to see the important care they provide to those recovering from illness, injury, and surgery. I appreciated the visit from representatives of the Alexandria Parent Teacher Association Council and their families earlier in the legislative session! It was great to hear directly from parents and students about their priorities and the work happening in Alexandria’s schools.

Last month, it was great to connect with constituents from the Virginia Conservation Network to discuss their priorities including energy efficiency and menhaden conservation. It was especially meaningful to see two high schoolers engaged and advocating on these issues.

Today marks my first full week in the Senate. On Thursday, it was great to have my family join me as I was sworn in. Since then I’ve presented several bills and attended my first Senate committee meeting. I'm excited to continue my work in the upper chamber!

It’s bittersweet to leave the House of Delegates, but I’m excited to join the State Senate tomorrow!

Stopped for a quick lunch at Taqueria Picoso! I’m so grateful for and proud of the diversity of our community for many reasons including the delicious food we have available nearby.

This morning, I was pleased to visit polling places at two retirement communities in SD-39 and I enjoyed speaking with senior voters. In the Senate I will advocate for policies for affordable, safe, and healthy communities for all.
