FOUR GRAPHS ABOUT 🇩🇰'S GENERAL ELECTION
My read of the election in four graphs. First: big urban-rural divide. The two big mainstream parties, Social Democrats and Liberals, are now mainly rural/suburban, with niche parties dominating in cities. (1/4) #polisky

The first article of my new research project on the political geographies of meat and dairy is out in Political Science. It describes the relationship between political ideologies, voting and meat consumption and reduction in the Netherlands.

Next week, June 12th and 13th, we host the two-day kick off event of my ERC project Proteinscapes. Together with scholars from a range of disciplines we discuss the geographies of the transition away from meat and dairy. It is still possible to register here:

On repeat: Genderstudies is hier slechts de kanarie in de kolenmijn, hoe sneller onze universiteiten dat begrijpen en ernaar handelen, hoe beter academische vrijheid in het algemeen beschermd is.
The journal for which I am executive editor is now also on Bluesky!
thank you!
I am very happy to share that I have received the #ERCCoG grant for research on the political geography of meat and dairy, PROTEINSCAPES. I will be building a team of doctoral and postdoctoral researchers in four EU countries to compare the landscapes of animal-based proteins.
What do Americans 🗽 and the Dutch🌷know about racial & ethnic inequalities? Are they willing to change their beliefs after learning the facts?
Working with @BUsociologydept graduates Nikki Huang and Will Regan, here's what we learned

Gentrificatie: wie maakt de stad?
Tijdens Let's Gro festival spreken @willemboterman.bsky.social en @wvangent.bsky.social over hun boek 'Making the middle class city' en gaan in discussie over gentrificatie in Groningen.

At the level of neighbourhoods it looks like this:
One of the themes on which I am working is the relation between social, spatial and political inequality and processes of polarization. Here a very simple graph of the Gini index of income inequality in Amsterdam 2001-2019
