It’s not even that they have politics I disagree with, it’s just that I know it’s all they’ll be talking about.
I missed the post because I have too many mutuals. I need to add you to a list but I don’t know how. Forgive me Your Rattiness
Australia’s oldest dictionary of Australian English has chosen “enshittification” – a slang term referring to the deterioration of products and services online – as the word of 2024.
I thought I came up with a really cool idea for alien molluscoid fish but then I realized I had just reinvented the snarks from serina. Anguish.

A dinosaur-like creature with antlers.
A large turtle and its offspring.
Things are a little tight financially, so I'm opening up commissions! $15 starting for single creature drawings, +$5 for every additional subject. DM me if you're interested.

Up to this point I’ve only consistently been able to draw faces and heads but not much in the way of bodies. Part of the issue is finding a way to draw humans that meshes with how I draw animals, which is very much line-art forward and with sharp edges (not easily conveyed with bluesky’s resolution.
One of these days I’m going to sit down and figure out how to draw human characters in more detail than just messy sketches. And that terrifies me
Got writers block on describing the last two birds, will share what I wrote when I get over it

Thread 3 about colonial heritage in natural history
Context: This thread stayed as a draft, and it was meant as another example besides those listed in an article from August 2023 by The Nature Conservancy that made the case for changing species' common names.

Yes, everything you’re heard about Florida (and its politics) is true. It’s fine. I’m fine. Fine fine fine fine fine. Just more stuff to throw into the wood chipper of my brain and pretend is “funny satire” or “weird fiction” when it comes out, I guess.
Goddamn, at 300 now! To celebrate, I will draw any (non-sexual) request you have for my heronsona - do taxes, get bludgeoned by heavy objects, anything really.
If it’s not too late, could I be added to the sff list?
A drawing of seven fictional birds birds of various shapes and sizes. To the left is a stick figure for scale
Some members of a clade of birds that are born with nearly fully formed wing muscles and flight feathers. They are abundant in open habitats, with some species (such as the third from the left) numbering in the hundreds of millions or even low billions of individuals.

I wonder what stories will be told in the mold of our cities in the future.
I didn’t see the quoted post at first, just that you liked “Donald” and I was like “Oh.”
Drawing of various creatures going about their day near a beach with mountains in the background.
Drawing of a turtle walking up a mountain with a volcano smoking in the background.
More musings: my style atm is line art creatures and lineless everything else, like those seen here. Now I’m uncertain if this style would work well in a book, especially one with buildings and tables and such. I suck at drawing straight lines though. Much to consider.
