We need to start including #overshoot in #adaptation planning.
This way we’ll know which impacts can be avoided by high mitigation ambition – including which are reversible and which are irreversible.

My cousin’s son would strongly disagree with Trump on this. At least he would if he was here but he died in Helmand province as a paratrooper a few days before his 20th birthday.
Or perhaps they destroy what they don’t want other people to know about …
Glaciers in the European Alps are disappearing fast and getting close to their peak rate of extinction: www.theguardian.com/environment/...
The global mutirão decision from COP30 has just been released. And it’s ……disappointing, underwhelming, simply not enough.
See the response from ICCI below.
🏔️ Glaciers lost 450 gigatons of water in 2024.
This is enough to form a block of ice 7 km tall, 7 km wide, and 7 km deep or to fill 180 million Olympic swimming pools.
Help us amplify #Glaciers2025: we need urgent climate action now.

After COP30 fire and floods: AMOC shutdown" - what is happening in the Atlantic and why should you care?
Our important event on AMOC was rudely interrupted by the fire at COP30 yesterday, but this is an important message so we wanted to make sure you heard it.

Tomorrow at #COP30 and online @rahmstorf.bsky.social will present latest AMOC science & potential impacts of shutdown
The event will be chaired by Minister Johannsson of Iceland and will include perspectives from representatives of Ireland, UK, Canada, and Finland

Climate change isn’t just an annoyance but a matter of life and death for some people. See this report from one of the most amazing parts of the world that I have been to, also with quotes and information from the amazing Tashi Lhazom.

Cryosphere science shows irreversible ice loss is underway, but can be slowed with emission cuts.
At a #COP30 side event, scientists warned negotiators often soften evidence, urging choices guided by science

This morning’s session at the #COP30 Cryosphere Pavilion discussed the impacts of black carbon in the Arctic.
Updated emissions data and improved atmospheric modeling highlight why rapid reductions in black carbon remain essential for effective Arctic and global climate policy. Full schedule below!

We switched to tidal the last time Spotify were spotifying. Cheaper and no complaints. Can’t remember any problems with the initial registration.
Update, 6:00 a.m. Wednesday:
The water level on Mendenhall River currently stands above 16 feet -- a new record for glacial outburst flood height.
The river reached major flood stage around 1 a.m. and is still forecast to peak between 8 a.m. and noon.
