Wait for Maxey's reaction to McCain's second triple... I zoomed in for y'all.
Jared McCain with back-to-back triples in his first moments in the game.
Can't tell if it's OKC or just Jared McCain fans in the house tonight in Philly, but definitely a crowd pop after these...
SCOTT STERLING
(sorry Dominick)
By the way, the Sixers have hit just THREE three-pointers today. The entire game. 3.
Holy shit, the Nets have taken the lead.
I don't think Nick Nurse knows he has timeouts. Nets are absolutely dominating the Sixers in Q4 and he doesn't seem moved to stop the bleeding even for a second.
31 points is the Brooklyn Nets' lowest scoring first half since Feb. 24, 2023, when they scored just 29 by halftime against the Chicago Bulls
The Nets ended up losing that game by 44 points.
VJ Edgecombe couldn't quite complete what would have been his third huge slam of the game already... and Tyrese Maxey gave him a thumbs down π
The only (and I do mean only) positive to games like tonight for the Sixers is getting to give guys some actual time on the floor to see what they can do...
Best example of this tonight was MarJon Beauchamp, who posted 17 PTS (7-13 FG), 6 REB, 2 AST, 1 BLK
I'll be honest, the Hospital Sixers are at least battling better than I expected them to.
Particularly impressed so far with MarJon Beauchamp and Dominick Barlow. Justin Edwards and Cam Payne not too bad either.
BBall Paul sighting.
Impressed with the Sixers finding a way to get blocked three times in roughly three seconds...
(then they gave up the rebound and a 3-pointer to Cleveland)
Can't even make this stuff up at this point
A quick look at the East for anyone that still has playoff aspirations for this Sixers squad, currently in 8th (a Play-In spot).
π Just 1.5 games over the Hawks in 9th and 3 over the Hornets in 10th. Those teams in their last 13 games:
ATL 9-4
CHA 8-5
PHI 5-8
UPDATE for Sixers vs. Cavs: rookie VJ Edgecombe has been downgraded to OUT and will miss his third game with a lumbar contusion.
That means Philly will now be without their top FOUR scorers β Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, Paul George and Edgecombe β in Cleveland tonight.
There comes a point when even I, someone employed to write words about the Sixers/these games, am simply at a loss for them.
But, the show must go on, I guess. The Sixers (what's left of them) face the Cavs tonight π

The Jazz are tanking so hard that they ended a guy's season for sleep apnea surgery and the Sixers are now losing to them in the third quarter
The Utah Jazz, a team that wants to lose, are beating the Sixers 58-55.
1. One HELL of an effort play from VJ Edgecombe to save this possession for the Sixers.
2. Awesome to see Edgecombe so concerned / apologetic toward the fan that took a bit of a kick to the face in the process.
During player intros on NBC, Kelly Oubre Jr. says he went to "YouTube University" π
The Sixers shot 57.6% from the floor tonight in their win over the Pacers.
That is Philadelphia's best FG% for a game since they shot 59.0% (against the Toronto Raptors) on March 31, 2024.
As awful as last night's loss to the Pelicans was, bouncing back to get the win tonight against the Timberwolves could be HUGE for the Sixers mentally.
A great team effort on the second leg of a back-to-back to cut their losing streak, even without Joel Embiid or PG.
Tyrese Maxey with the poster on Anthony Edwards, then Kate Scott @katetscott.bsky.social with the brilliant "they forgot about Dre" call. Good stuff.
Joel Embiid reported soreness in his right shin. Following consultation with doctors, Embiid has received daily treatment, while progressing through on-court work and strength and conditioning.
Heβs OUT tomorrow, reevaluated ahead of the back-to-back this weekend, per Sixers.
Here's the full podcast from Kevin O'Connor (Yahoo Sports) with trainer Drew Hanlen. I clipped some of the stuff specifically about Sixers Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey on my page, but the whole conversation is really great and worth a listen.

Drew Hanlen on Tyrese Maxey
"The last couple weeks I've been like 'just take a game off, you need a break, your body's fatiguing.'
So that's another thing I think the Sixers will have to do to ultimately be at their best is find ways to give him breaks."
Drew Hanlen on Tyrese Maxey
"I messed up [in 2024] with Tyrese because, the whole summer, we prepared for him to be better in a two-man game with Joel."
"[Maxey] wasn't able to carry his team to wins because he wasn't prepared enough ... we didn't train him to be the #1"
Drew Hanlen:
"'Joel Embiid's out ... oh no, is he seriously hurt?' No, he's just not 100% ... he's not going to push his body to a place where he has in the past.
People know all the surgeries, all the injuries. People have no idea the amount of pain that he's played through"
