Constant time lookup? "Someone asks you for document X. How do you make sure you know where the document is without having to go looking in all the cubbies? One way would be to have a piece of paper recording which cubby each document is in." You just described a lookup table.

I've found that complex algorithmic ideas can be expressed to non programmers very simply in the form:
"imagine you have a pile of documents. Now put each one in a cubby." Then state the problem in these terms.

Can you talk about why this last point doesn't just recreate the original undesirable combat situation? Love the idea, just curious for your thoughts.

Gamedevs: What are the daily/hourly practices that make you particularly effective/productive?

Push past the standard advice - whats the weird/idiosyncratic/custom thing you do that you've rarely seen anyone else do, but which _really_ works for you?

But _what_ precisely is difficult for the players of TTRPGs? What are the player verbs? How do you modulate their difficulty? From where do we draw enjoyment from it being a game (not just a book weve all read)? These are the things I want to see discussed more.

TTRPG space talks a lot about mechanics, balance, levels, alignment, etc. All of which are about in-fiction interactions. I've yet to read/watch anything about player skill, and how to foster that as a DM.

Hiking 3000km gives you lots of time to think about the things you aren't doing while hiking
