I keep meaning to visit our local Phalanstery ruin (Brook Farm, in the West Roxbury neighborhood), but it’s just empty parkland now.

Things might be bad now but at least the turnips aren’t as mushy
I am working with an academic library group testing modern OCR models on the huge (huge!!) backlogs of scanned historical materials that these libraries hold. Traditional OCR renders it as mostly gar<9ta?ge. Making this accessible is what the internet was supposed to be for, and it's in reach now.
I can say confidently that “Safari + SVG” has been the root cause of at least half the “this looks wrong on my browser” issues I’ve addressed in the last 5 years.
Me when I hire anyone to fix anything in my house
orange you glad you went
“Stick to your lane is what I think, buddy”
yes
Checks out
We got through all the known narrative content with some nudges from friends here and there, but a TON of work.
Usually I am loath to read letters or voicemails or whatever passes for worldbuilding in games, but the assets were just so lovely to pour over. I enjoyed the deep research.
Both are very elegant, especially in light of the length constraint
Both of these are so good!
I watched it to identify all the unnecessary regionalisms they could pack into a single utterance, eg “yous stopping by Wawa to get a wooder ice before the Iggles game is on channel 6?”
This is extremely fun to play with on my phone!
The use of “enjoyed” here is a clear sign that the user experience must suck ass
Protest sign in the form of a parking sign. Text reads “no king any time”
Spotted in the wild! The other sign was on the reverse.
I can never replay it; my ending was perfect
Claude Code, which is “just” /bin/ai.sh, is similarly bad at documenting itself. I get why this is—the LLM is wrapped inside the agent stuff—but could be ameliorated.
Make its internal prompt always read from live docs or something! It’s very obvious users are going to ask LLMs how to use them.
Many sheep in a green field under grey skies. There are sharp peaked mountains in the distance. All the sheep are turned to look directly at the viewer.

This is excellent. I’m sorry you had to make this, though
She felt terrible! She knew what they were and would’ve kept them if she’d IDed them. I probably left them in a box full of old issues of Spin and Omni; very much my fault for not doing proper collections management.
My mom accidentally threw my originals out when I was in college. They were well-loved.
(I had already lost the t-shirt I won in one of their contests, the first men’s large in a long series of unwearably big tech swag I’d receive.)
This was lovely
The good news is that if people here don't take the bait and instead scold you for being ridiculous, you still have grade A material for your rebrand
Very far/not far at all, which is how this game works
That’s terrible; you’re not even asking them to stay up late for a headliner!
That’s one of my go-to albums for when I’m bored of weight training and instead just stomp around in circles angry-swinging 3lb dumbbells
There’s a crazy amount of obscure concerts from the 80s and 90s posted to YouTube. I don’t remember exact dates but I’m sure at least one recording of a 1991 Pigface show at the Trocadero has a 17 year old me in there somewhere. If my mom found out I’d be so grounded.
