I know I often fail to live up to the principle of being kind to others expressed in this piece, but at least I try. When I hate, it's usually justified.

Re-sharing an old poem of mine, "Goodbye", written sometime back in the 1990s but never published in a zine or anthology.
I still feel it's a worthy piece, one that equals my more recent works in poetic quality. I've always liked the imagery in this one.

What I hear whenever AI bros or bots complain about artists being angry over others using a system responsible for the abusive nonconsensual exploitation of their works:
"How dare you be angry over being abusively exploited by AI and then told you'll be replaced by that same AI?"
AI bros and bots act like abusive malignant narcissists.
They blame artists angry over AI's abusive nonconsensual exploitation of their works for being angry. It's the same tactic used by gaslighting narcissists. I recognize it well; my mother would do the same damned thing.

Do you think telling you to "fuck off" is a violent response? I don't believe it is. I will admit to it being angry (and I truly believe such anger to be justified and righteous) and rather vulgar, but violent? Not really!

A MIDNIGHT TREASURY OF MACABRE POETRY
The latest addition to my personal library and tbr list arrived yesterday — A MIDNIGHT TREASURY OF MACABRE POETRY. Looks good, except I was disappointed to find it features only excerpts from some of the longer poems such as "Goblin Market" by C. Rossetti and "Lamia" by J. Keats.
Instead of sending human workers onto playgrounds to give out free samples of cigarettes to children (which is something tobacco companies did), AI companies have their AI bros and bots pushing AI on social media.
At this point, anyone who claims ignorance regarding the reason why artists and other creatives are angry over their creations being exploited by AI without their consent is CHOOSING to remain so ignorant. They're making the conscious choice to ignore the elephant in the room.

Indeed! Children are often a lot more imaginative and creative than are typical AI bros. At least, children I have known have been.

I actually view gen AI as something of the tobacco of the 21st century, a potentially harmful (in this case, to the mind instead of to the body) product being hyped and pushed by the companies developing it. Tobacco companies spread cancer, AI companies are spreading brain rot.
