blade fantasia

The altars are piled with various kinds of bread, beer, mulled wine, incense and myrrh, cuts of meat and geese. (OGC)
as with all scenery beforehand, these are less about conveying actual shape and light than they are about conveying a shifting silhouette of something unpleasantly unfamiliar in a dream, like when you try to count your fingers or your eyes blur while trying to read something, but you can't stop
assorted breakables for nightmare fantasy game
the funniest part of this explanation is that it starts by taking vivec at his word when the very first thing he did was lie about how he became a god
I ran up to a goblin wizard bracing to inevitably take a single hit of fire arrow or something and the little fucker immediately pulled out porn and started reading
got my kumiromi statue home and hit it with a scale hammer, weight incomprehensible thumpsup
(minotaur priests also drop them, along with unicorns, so that's probably how you're intended to find them if you don't want a massive karma sink)
unless the wiki is mistaken, the priest at your wedding, if killed, has a higher chance of dropping the holy grail item than the wandering priests you can kill in the overworld
not that people weren't already making it risky oekaki style (and modding images in anyway), but excellent news for people who want custom images in their houses and horrible news for streamers who enjoyed going through moongates looking for cool builds live
lots of neat changes in the last few nightlies, especially for integrating useful mods into mainline, but also wow that's like several distinct meta-9/11s occurring based entirely on that slice nerf
genuinely weighing whether I should summon monsters into my home to kill a bunch of stray cats without a net karma loss
"thailand is over there.. vietnam is there... oh god vietnam gets wider towards the bottom, I have to be careful, I'll click higher" <- foolwords
I need your kindest love, I choked and doubted my first intuition and clicked laos when I was trying to click cambodia
today's font that charmed me: vera grapes' thaloria
she credits slavonic influence, which kind of deflates me pointing out that I immediately noticed the cool slavonic loans, but I did notice them, and that's what counts
I've always liked (in theory, not in practice) Ankama's way of allowing pseudomultibox using your other characters to fill empty party slots. feels like there's something to that even if I think it should only extend to like... one party member
wizardry is fun for this because you can easily get into a situation where you're fighting like 6 level drain monsters and several stun enemies at once only to have the obvious scenario occur. there's less abstraction in it than people think! it's sad they don't have the in-roads to experience that
I will not be levelling digging until I have to. do you think I'm fucking crazy. I want walls, not floors.
which is all to say that I think tedium and punishment enjoyers are often left out of discussions on linear difficulty as just a mark of whether you're good or not. the line between fetishism and enjoyment in play is really often just shock and aftershock perceived, yknow?
anyway I'm thinking about this as I level cooking and mining in elin, which are both quite tedious and plenty meditative to do
there was this conversation on tumblr a while back that started when someone used "losing levels on death" as something that only happens in fetish manga because nobody would play a game like that, which is funny because it gestures at a complex which has outlasted the feature which instilled it
I love when you have a character who Can't Do Something because you didn't level it, and I love playing the character I build to do the things I want to do. I love when my character is capable of doing specific things better than other people's similarly levelled characters. this is deemed illegal.
I think I lose a lot of allies in my opinions on mmos entirely because I enjoy a lot of the stuff that gets removed first in qol updates and treated as a bug or artefact of format. actually I love grinding up skills. GRINDING skills, not just slowly levelling them. and I looove death consequences
it's interesting how in adopting the online features of mmos, right down to the daily login stuff, games dropped the cool grindy stuff [people start to agree with me] like prefix-rolling and faction rep and needing multiple characters to play every class [people start leaving] and paying to fast tra
enough time has passed that I feel slightly more ethical in acknowledging the strangest gimmick account I've ever accidentally summoned on here
i love starting with "lots of strange reactions to this game" and following that up with the strangest reaction yet
