It's People that's scary really, not Wheels. People and their shitty behaviour, their shitty architecture, and their failure to proactively consider mobility differences when designing a space.
Wheels aren't scary, the fact that spaces are hostile to Wheels is scary.

But is, say, 50% mostly independent access better than not being able to leave the house at all?
Pure numbers wise, that's obviously better. 50 is bigger than 0.
— see doors/corridors/roads/paths/everything that'd either be outright impossible or extremely difficult in a manual wheelchair.
Scary, because I can still get everywhere 100% independent with crutches. But if it were Wheels Time, that number would drop real fast.
Starting to consider whether it's part-time wheelchair time (part-time as in, whenever it's unsafe to walk due to my hips/knees, where I might otherwise have to stay home), to add to my growing collection of mobility aids. Scary.
Scary not because "chair scary", but I look around and constantly —
Shockwave is my personal patron saint of post-concussion syndrome and I refuse to elaborate.
How lucky they are.
How lucky I am, to earn the trust of defenseless little things thousands of times smaller than me. To see it in how they conduct themselves, that they are healthy, they are content, and they know my body and voice. How lucky I am.
They are so safe and comfortable that they climb onto the hand that feeds them for no reason other than that it's held in front of them as an option.
They are so unafraid that they climb onto the body of an impossible beast that leads them to food and watches them feast.
It truly melts me to think that these two creatures, so incredibly small, have all their needs so thoroughly met and no dangers/predators/threats.
They are so loved and safe that they are happy to sleep under the shade of two big leaves instead of burrowing away or otherwise hiding.
Millipede got out of her coconut and walked around for a little bit before curling up under the big leaf. My heart, frankly, melting.
Just feeling a bit mournful about the decline of education quality (?) and how much easier it is to wholly cheat yourself out of developing important skills.
I didn't engage with the media how I should have back then, but I learned to gather evidence quick, make a coherent argument, and check back to make sure I couldn't be contradicted (or address any contradicting evidence).
I hope this is someone people still intuit, rather than offloading the work.
My book is full of little notes and stickies indicating what section of the essay each piece of evidence is for. I remember practically "scanning" for a specific theme, and collecting all my quotes in under an hour. Will people still learn to do this? I hope so.
Rereading a book I wrote an essay on during my writing degree (Maggie Nelson's Bluets) and appreciating it much more now.
But also mourning that, with how much LLMs/similar are being used in education, people might lose the art of "speed reading something specifically to write on it".
At long last, another HGINA update. ✨

Don't drink anymore but I'd kill for a caipirinha or marg rn. Just the flavour. The bite. I miss it dearly.
It's all come in. Absolutely gorgeous. Feels very good to hold. Over the moon with it.
(ignore the mess...too excited to fully clear the floor first)
Realised I'd never posted that piece here, oops!
A brightly coloured digital drawing of shockwave (transformers) looking up at a series of screens showing error messages. He reaches up towards the image in the centre, which displays a blurred image resembling "senator Shockwave", his identity and appearance from much earlier in his life. The other screens show a variety of distorted images, including Soundwave and a heart in the bottom left, several abstract landscapes from cybertron, a space bridge, and his own current face/optics with substantial distortion.

A "self-portrait" by @kaonarvna. It is a high-contrast, brightly coloured digital artwork. A collection of highly saturated triangles spiral from the centre-right of the image, around the left and bottom, and back to right of centre. A "face" at the head is composed of several down-pointed triangles, with a single small black circle in the rightmost one, perhaps an eye. A spine of pink/purple triangles coils along the length of the spiral. A triangular ribcage at the top has several overlaid triangles denoting ribs. The word "YOU" is written in bright purple in the gap between the face and the triangles below. It is dated 01/02/2026.
Oops, the annual self-portrait is looking less portrait-y than prior years.

GOOD NEWS! Researchers have shown Alzheimer’s disease can be REVERSED- not just prevented. Using a potent neuroprotective compound called P7C3-A20, they found RESTORING balance to a central cellular energy molecule (NAD+) not only PREVENTED disease features but REVERSED them, EVEN at late stages.

To the dozen+ unanswered discord messages piling up in my inbox,,, forgive me, I am not ignoring you, I am just not very capable of even basic interaction right now. (and for the past few weeks)
Tempted to do the "draw your fav with your problems" thing but that'd be "Shockwave with post-concussion syndrome" and that feels a little too on the nose
Time for my annual "shut everything off and throw a tiny tantrum because the date is inescapable".
Anyway. Planning for a worm bin. It's worm time.
A brightly coloured digital artwork. "Chonkwave" (a chubby bunny-like entity based on "Shockwave" from transformers) loafs in Soundwave's lap.
soft kitty,,,

Optimus' head on his War for Cybertron (game) model is extremely cat-like and I can't unsee it.
Why are hospitals the worst place to be with a (m)TBI. Everything is so bright and awful. So many sudden loud sharp noises. Awful awful awful.
Miraculously, have a piece of original work at the feedback stage for the first time in what seems like eons. Incredible stuff.
Love my physio so much. If you have EDS/similar the best thing you can do is find a physio who's willing to advocate for you to the extreme.
Man just called me unprompted this morning, said, "Hey it's (name), I had a cancellation and just got your MRI results. Is this a good time?" What a legend.
Have had an incredibly unlucky autumn/winter all things considered. Serious wrist injury last week of October, concussion first week of December...just brilliant luck, really.
