The current corporate tax code that encourages offshore tax avoidance isn't "America-first," it's "Corporations-first, Americans-last"
FACT policy director @zorkamilin.bsky.social speaking now at @usprogressives.bsky.social 's shadow hearing on tax policy reforms to end corporate greed.

"Amid skyrocketing oil prices and concerns about ordinary Americans subsidizing Big Oil’s expected super profits at the pump, new disclosures show how the U.S. continues to inadequately tax its oil majors." @factcoalition.bsky.social @zorkamilin.bsky.social thefactcoalition.org/oil-and-gas-...
America's tax code is tilted to big multinational corporations - and domestic small businesses know it.
That's why they overwhelmingly support closing corporate loopholes like the egregious one that lets big pharma "round-trip" their profits from US sales via offshore tax havens.
Fantastic tax journalism by @caitlinreilly.bsky.social
This is just the domestic corporate tax breaks, to say nothing of the offshore tax games played by big US corporations--which our tax code fails to stop.

Big American corporations are reaping billions in tax savings from tax havens. But don't blame the tax havens: blame the US tax code for being too weak to stop this.

New #tax disclosure requirements are reaffirming what FACT has long argued: that the U.S. tax code continues to encourage American companies to stash profits in tax havens.

The largest American fossil fuels subsidies aren't even for extraction at home - FACT's latest report explores how our broken tax code also subsidizes American companies drilling abroad.
A new report from @americanprogress.bsky.social reveals that the US subsidizes fossil fuels more than renewable energy sources. “Policymakers must stop forcing Americans to pick up the tab for dirty fossil fuel production that is harming Americans’ health and environment.”
WaPo "Fossil fuel giant wins $370 million tax break for burning gas as an ‘alternative fuel’" - quotes @factcoalition.bsky.social @zorkamilin.bsky.social. "Company CEO Jack Fusco donated at least $250,000 to Trump campaign." wapo.st/474VZmf

"The reduction in supervisory staff at the IRS matches a trend we’ve seen across AML enforcement agencies. This sends the signal that the US is open to dirty money. It undermines our national security and market integrity."

Despite claims to the contrary, fossil fuels have received far more subsidies from the federal government than renewables—since 1918: $549 billion, nearly 3x what renewables have received. www.americanprogress.org/article/5-hidden-ways-th...

My thoughts on new US tax accounting disclosures, for @bloombergtax.com: "These new disclosures are a major improvement on what we’ve had before. The hope is that with more public scrutiny, big multinationals are less likely to play offshore tax games that put investors at risk."
"What do (US corporations) Pepsi and Boeing have in common? They both paid more in taxes to foreign governments than to the United States last year." New analysis based on new disclosures from our friends @factcoalition.bsky.social thefactcoalition.org/new-corporat... It is shameful
The first round of new #tax disclosures from big American companies represents the culmination of nearly a decade of advocacy by investors, FACT, and others.

"When the US is not part of multilateralism, there is a risk that it becomes a tax haven for citizens from other countries." 💬 @zorkamilin.bsky.social
Between four noted tax havens (Bermuda, Switzerland, Ireland, and Singapore) PepsiCo is reporting it reduced its income taxes for 2025 by $661m, utterly dwarfing the effect of U.S. anti-abuse rules like GILTI.
Current U.S. tax rules are clearly not dissuading companies from the use of tax havens.
