Skeletons are great! One of my favourite purchases in Tokyo was this Harryhausen skeleton figure for 30 bucks.

If you are intrigued by Pendragon but don't want to commit to the monolith that is the Great Pendragon Campaign, the original 80s game is a rules-light masterpiece full of chivalric vibes, worth checking out at PDF tier at the very least!

Dragonmeet for TTRPG focus instead of primarily board game. New venue this year but for the last six years I've not regretted going.
Tbh, life stuff has got in the way. But I agree the series isn't concluded. 😊
Most RuneQuest players cut their teeth on RQ2 and 3. Those games had a lot more blank spaces before decades of excellent published worldbuilding. So don't be afraid to build scenarios without research. Flick open to a random paragraph or lore and turn that into an adventure.
I know anti-canon is popular in the OSR. So this is officially my "hot take".
...but seriously, if you backed the RQ Humble Bundle and haven't checked out the books, skip the core rulebook and dive straight into the Mythology book (and subsequent Cult books). They're cooking at Chaosium.
Drafting my own blog response to this, but really ttrpg religion hasn't been beat since Glorantha in the 70s.
RQG's Mythology book is a primer on doing religion right. From the mundane rituals to the cosmic conflicts.. but most importantly it drives engaging tabletop play!
In RuneQuest, you literally sacrifice your magical power / soul to your god in seasonal worship ceremonies to get new spells and a larger casting pool. That on top of gifts, geases, duties and temple sponsorship is amazing.
RuneQuest's Cults (divine), Shamans (spirits) and Sorcerers (arcane) are the gold standard
Different magic systems.. different progression arcs.. different strength/weaknesses.. and mechanics that reinforce theme.

Thanks! I really should since the final post goes through my process for building the pointcrawl from scratch.
The issue is I am running a lot of games right now and selfishly my games take priority over my blogging.
