My husband is out running for 2 hours and I was supposed to do a 2.5 hour run today but obviously I can’t and I’m actually really sad.

I think that maybe deserves a few quid to support queer, gender non-conforming, and trans youth at a point where LGBTQIA+ folks - and especially youth - are being routinely demonised, put down, denied care and support.

Ellie's fundraiser for Step Forward (Tower Hamlets) Help Ellie Mackin Roberts raise money to support Step Forward (Tower Hamlets)

So I took a massive fall trail running today, training for London2Brighton 100km. I am pretty banged up and have broken a tooth. I want to remind you I’m doing this to raise money for StepForward, a youth charity in Tower Hamlets, who (among other things) supports LGBTQIA+ youth:

this is it right here. AI violates Vonnegut's number 1 rule for writers: "Use the time of a total stranger in such a way that he or she will not feel the time was wasted." AI shifts the burden of effort from the writer onto the reader/audience and that is unacceptable

Fine. If no one else will, I will say it.

There are TOO MANY different parking apps in this country.

RingGo, APCOA Connect, PayByPhone, Evology… I have definitely missed some.

Tabula Matronarum · The Social Web of 42 BCE

For those who enjoyed my presentation at the AAH, or just like late Roman Republican history, or gender history, or cool social network maps, or HBO's Rome or Domina, have some fun playing around with this! Credit to Hendry Hu for v 1.0 (this is v. 42.2) anisekstrong.github.io/Roman-matrons/

Don’t worry, I still wash my kit.

This may be the stupidest long-distance-runner-brain thing I have ever said but sometimes I feel aggrieved at having to wash kit after an easy 5km.

Like I understand washing kit after 20+ km or a session. But it’s barely worth washing after an easy 5km.

We continue our Earth Month series with a #PeoplingBlog post from Andrew Fox @acfox.bsky.social. Here, Andrew introduces us to the ways in which Roman writers contemplated the potential health benefits of integrating green spaces into the city of Rome: peoplingthepast.com/2026/04/17/b...

My 2nd and 3rd year Greek Art students' essay proposals are coming in and THEY ARE SO GOOD.

I can't wait to read all these essays. I'm so thrilled by how thoughtful and nuanced they are.
