Analogous to deep ocean exploration, where each deeper descent reveals a new discovery, space exploration invites us to reach new heights (or in this case the moon). The courage, and persistence, holds the potential to transform our understanding of life, our planet, and our place in the universe.

In the spirit of exploration, from space to the deep ocean, watching #ArtemisII space launch from beginning to end was not only a sight to see after 50 years, but pushes the boundary of knowledge and wonder of the unknown. #NASA #Artemis

Human emissions drive recent trends in North Pacific climate variations - Nature The main multidecadal variations in the PDO index during the twentieth century, including the ongoing, decades-long negative trend, were largely driven by human emissions of aerosols and greenhouse ga...

🌊 New evidence suggests the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO), long considered an internal climate fluctuation, is heavily influenced by human activity.

Greenhouse gases and aerosols may be driving its multidecadal variability.

The State Department fires remaining employees who worked on climate change The firings of nearly a dozen people in the State Department’s Office of Global Change include the last U.S. climate negotiators.

The State Department fired the remaining staff in the Office of Global Change, responsible for international climate policy, as part of a larger downsizing of nearly 3,000 employees. This leaves the State Department with no staff knowledgeable about global climate negotiations. 🤷🏻‍♂️

While some grants have been terminated (waiting Supreme Court) certain programs still exist. Every agency now has to submit their budget detailed proposal based on the president budget. Congress then decides what gets funded for FY26 starting in Oct 1

What does NOAA’s proposed FY 2026 budget mean for students and early career professionals? Becoming a marine biologist, conservationist, or oceanographer has been a dream for some since childhood.

While the results of the proposed budget in NOAA FY2026 awaits with Congress Commitee on Appropriations, the impact to students and early career professionals remain uncertain. If pushed forward, there could be substantial changes to science and workforce development. 🌊

NOAA Proposes Permanently Closing Premiere Hurricane Research Institute In its proposed 2026 budget released Monday, NOAA closes all federally funded weather and climate research labs, including the one responsible for maintaining the nation’s top hurricane models

It's hard to adequately summarize how destructive NOAA's 2026 proposed budget released on Monday is for hurricane forecasting, but I crammed all I could into today's newsletter. I encourage everyone with interests along the coast to read it carefully. ⬇️

In Rstudio, the interface has quadrants similar to matlab like the command window and editor. It’s also similar in the style for how code is displayed. Rstudio has very similar code syntax to python.

First time using R, I actually like that the interface is a mixture between matlab and python
