We read this in my AP Lit class a couple weeks ago. My students were pretty divided on it, which I didn’t expect. Some of them took issue with the tone towards D/W. They saw her as someone who left home to better themselves, and saw the story as being negative towards people who go that route.

The author of some of my favorite poems to use in my classes. A tremendous loss.

Great to be over here on Bluesky so far. Reminds me of the Twitter early days.

I’m going to attempt to use this account as a micro-blog of sorts to talk about teaching (with some nonsense mixed in).

I’m a 35 year old second year teacher in Lansing, and I’m looking forward to documenting the ride!
