RenCen plan would demolish 2 towers — but it hinges on public money General Motors Co. and Dan Gilbert's Bedrock LLC are planning to tear down two of the automaker's five Renaissance Center towers as part of a reimagining of the long-struggling Detroit complex.

The plan (as we said would happen on the podcast months ago) is that the Renaissance Center in Detroit will have two towers demolished. 300 and 400 Tower. One surviving tower will be residential. www.crainsdetroit.com/real-estate/...

I think engineers tend to over complicate their hosting infrastructure. As a result, many teams outsource their architectural decisions to a devops team that doesn’t have the full context of the application. The best teams I’ve been a part of have been truly full stack teams, owning infra, FE & BE.

Seeing things like this is awesome! A huge part of why I started this. Love to see this city get the love it deserves.

I know this is a joke, but I would like to call out that Camtasia is made by a Michigan based company @techsmith.com. I had a couple of friends who used to work on Camtasia.

A photograph of Downtown Detroit taken on Woodward Avenue facing south at night. The sky is gray and hazy and the Hudson’s Detroit skyscraper lights project a hazy glow. The street is slick from a recent snow fall. There are several strands of holiday lights seen over the sidewalks.

One really neat feature of bluesky is how you could use domain names as your handle. I've been parking on a few domains for years, to lazy to do anything with them. I'd love to put this to some use and showcase Detroit area startups and technology here on Bluesky. Let me know what you want to see!
