Awesome, thank you! I’m glad they’re less frequent. The fact it happens on completion is a helpful note! The game is doing some extra work then to update you progress, etc.

Hey!
Are you still running into crashes while playing Tiled Words?
If so, could you try playing on this dev build and see if it works better?
deploy-preview-39--tiled-words.netlify.app
(If you create an account you can sync your progress between the dev build and main site.)
Thanks!
I would rather have time to do things slowly than tools to do things quickly

Aging was supposed to happen in base 12, not base 10.
You're actually meant to be a kid until 12, a teenager until 24, a 20-something until you're 36, and in your thirties until you're 48. Your 40s should last until you're 60.
That's why every decade milestone (30, 40, etc.) feels premature.
This actually checks out, except I think I'm aging at base 11...

I'm working on adding profile pages to #TiledWords. Is there a stat you would want to see on your profile?

Semi-related, I’m annoyed that “generative art” now means weird AI deep fakes instead of cool creative coding art
It was a fun surprise to hear Tiled Words mentioned in episode 693 of @shoptalkshow.com !
If you like puzzles or word games give it a try!

I somehow lived in Florida for half my life before discovering Haitian pikliz. Holy crap is it delicious.
This wiggly paint app is so fun. Just delightful.

There are a few reasons I'm excited about user accounts:
- You can play across multiple devices and keep your progress/streak synced
- I can back up your data in case your browser deletes it
- This lays the groundwork for future features
I'll be sharing more soon!
Hey #TiledWords players!
I'm adding support for player logins and it's almost ready. I need beta testers to help me test it out!
If you're interested, please DM me your email! I'll be reaching out sometime in the next week with more details!
There was an issue with today's #TiledWords where you could get stuck with two big tiles and the shuffle button wouldn't swap them.
I just released a fix. If you ran into this please try refreshing and shuffling again! Thanks
It is much easier to make something complicated than to make it simple.

Well this is definitely the biggest PR I've ever made. (Don't worry this is on a side project. I wouldn't do this to a coworker.)
This is almost all converting ~160 TS files to JSON (These store Tiled Words puzzles)

This is because of boring technical details about how the game computes valid combinations.
Ahh yeah sorry about that. That's not ideal. I need to find a way to avoid that (either making it a valid solution or preventing creating puzzles where this is possible.)
Right now I manually check for this scenario during puzzle creation (but obviously it sometimes slips through)
Love this rebound from @matthiasott.com on my post from yesterday. He captures a nuance I was living in but couldn’t quite express. There is a friction when traversing disciplines, but that’s good friction. The ”iron sharpens iron” kind. We should seek that out more and put value on it.
I think some people are also quick to blame “regional differences” when they don’t get a clue even if that’s not the reason.
I got an email from someone that my clues were too regional and he wasn’t familiar with some of the clues/references. He lives in the same state as me!
Because of that I mostly steer clear.
The number one complaint I get about clues is when they are too regional. People often give feedback that clues are “too American” when I didn’t realize they were regional at all. It’s hard to know my own blind spots.
I make a crossword-adjacent puzzle (Tiled Words) and have also gotten pushback on pronunciation related clues.
I think a lot of it comes down to accents. A pun that works in West Coast USA may fall flat for someone in another country or even another state.
A victory screen showing a 7 day streak with 148 puzzles solved
I made a small change to the #TiledWords victory screen today. Now you'll see how many puzzles you've completed if the number is higher than your streak

I love designing and building websites but am starting to hate a lot of things about the industry.
