I feel gross thinking students used AI because it reminds me of Stand and Deliver when the state didn’t think those students could succeed. I also think we’ve lost the point.We have to uphold academic integrity but we also have to get it right and frame it-“I don’t care about AI-I care about you.”

Intervention in language is not about fixing a kid. It IS about fixing a system that didn't provide access in the first place. Did the student receive instruction in a way they could understand, process, and use in Tier-1 instruction?

Either way, regardless of the acronym or curriculum companies, effective instruction is communicated, sequenced, and scaffolded focused on supporting the students affective, cognitive, and linguistic development
And those who do the assessment do not speak the language of their target audience (students). As in the interview, the difference is who has power, makes the choices, and sets the standard. #elsky #edusky #language
I often didn't use the language of the content. I could speak the language of instruction but not scalable systems, even though I had success in building systems. Many students may know and understand the content but, when assessed, do not communicate with the target audience
