Note, the above prob won't convince outright naysayers, their mind is essentially made up — fence-sitters teetering a bit are the easiest to tip towards the positive right now, in the shortest time, leading up to the election. And time really is at a premium... we have to change this govt entirely.

People might get further convincing fence-sitters that it simply doesn't make basic economic sense to wait. Quite literally costs us more. Convince them on just basic, basic numbers, and connect it to other rising costs if we ignore a lot more work that needs to be done on mitigation efforts.
Well past the point of pleading stupidity - wilful ignorance is where they're at. It's here whether they like it or not. The less we do as a country/govt now, the more the future burden is simply shifted TO EVERYONE and at an exponentially *higher* cost.
They've *got* to go, and soon!
Did any, has any, journalist raised to a loud shout
"WHAT. THE. FUCK. HAPPENED. TO. THE. CLIMATE. EMERGENCY. FUND?!"
Because we know it was raided for unaffordable boondoggles, handouts and other pork barrel BS.
That robbed communities of help. That's what it's done.
THAT needs to be raised NOW.
It was also a great point to step in and say that while the Insurance Council is flagging potentially increases in dues for said insurance, where they even will insure now, this is again avoiding the fact GOVERNMENT HAS MATERIALLY COMPROMISED OUR NATIONAL ABILITY TO WITHSTAND THESE AT SCALE.
FACT: This was not unforseen to the extent that we *know*, bc *fucking science*, that these *would* increase in both frequency AND intensity!
FACT: Work to do pre-prep, mitigate more, all that met with "woke!", "alarmism!", "we'll all be wearing grass skirts!", "Communism"
We could have done more.

So one of our biggest insurers said we've got to move from a "react and respond" to "better preparation as a Nation going forward".
Pretty explicit.
Ofc, that was an excellent opportunity for a real news person to step in and say, "Yes, what Greens have been pushing for, hmmm, DECADES?"
Ugh. Van de Molen is Dad's MP. Always promises a flurry of activities and keeping people informed.
Never actually does it of course.
#NZpol
Also not surprised that Ray Chung was veeeeeeery busy being 'visible', I wonder if he thinks this will help rehabilitate his awful behaviour during the Council elections.
Hint: Nobody is fooled Ray. Nobody. Least of all Wellingtonians.
Things come out eventually, they always do - at this level of course, it'll be the country as a whole that pays the price for it, as we've already been having to pay for this charade of "leadership" going on 2 years+ now...
This trouble with this situation is both of them (and Winston clearly, he's signalled intent) will simply act like they're resolute, I imagine many will buy it, it's just Luxon is so wobbly at the knees practically *anyone* looks strong and stable next to him. That it has to be *them* is... AAAARGH!
Yeah. That.
Even more great news to cheer you all up...
I mean, I actually get the pain here, I really do.
#NZpol
So that's nice. Now, about assurances Luxon is "across all the details", I expect something about this to come up shortly, along with the "expertly managed, with a lot of phone calls made" plan to mitigate it, yes?
You can do this any time now Chris.
Seriously, up to you.
Any time.
Any.
And Winston has lost no time saying "It won't be the last one".
No doubt.
I think Oppo politicians should now just completely torpedo his statements when he uses generalities, "we're concerned about all NZers" etc, force specifics out of him, make him flounder publicly — that's not gonna be hard.
#NZpol
Of course he's still PM.
Why think Mr "Rich and sorted" of "bottomfeeders" infamy would actually *listen* to anyone *else* about *his* I Give Myself 10 Stars as the PM-ist of ALL PM'S job?
The real problem, of course, is a vote at all, and at *this* stage. Prob be even more arrogant now 🤮
Pretty much all that AoNZ actually needs as a baseline can be done, because it's *been* done before — but here and there only. And, in effect, we keep asking those *who have no interest in improving the public interest* for their permission to do so.
We should be way past this sort of thing by now.
And as for elections themselves, certainly, given govt has some of the biggest levers to change things, *turn out that vote* for a *highly achievable and far better future*, and do it *before it's simply too late*.
Because after things slide too far, it... simply will be.
But clearly, and not wanting to be fatalistic about it: it really comes down to some basic things... the more people meet and relate experiences IRL the better to start with I think. Help relate policies/promises b/t elections to what *is* happening — after all, the day-to-day is where they're felt!
As situations can always do when people are confronted with, basically, dangers they can't seem to get control over. But, they'll never get control over anything if it goes on any longer, and getting the same people means... exactly that. The self-defeating and very self-destructive irony of it all.
When ppl have descended to certain levels of vitriol (over and above the usual garbage) + for so, so long now - and continue doing it, on purpose - it's going to take a LONG time to fix.
And that's even *when* a govt comes in that has the time - and will - to *also* fix All The Other Things. ARGH.
I think one of the worst things about where we are now is that more ppl than ever have not only been let down by polis/politics in gen, there's near ZERO trust out there, partly as a direct result of that, in almost anything.
It's basically going to entail a huge rebuild proj, for *all* of society.
Yeah, the more loathsome Nat voters fleeing to NZF would prob be attracted by it, might get a few ACToids drifting to and from there even (they ofc won't ever mind his 'just joking" ol' "wit", all that "Raj over here (who I didn't ask but will happily speak for now) is Indian, he's cool with it" BS.

"...the Treaty clause review mirrors changes already underway in the planning system, where stronger Treaty obligations are being replaced with weaker, consultative requirements... the changes create a form of legislative inertia that makes reversal significantly more difficult."
#NZpol
Look, this is literally how NZ is governed right now, and can't we just dump them ALL this time!!!
Come *on* people, how many times do we have to smack ourselves in the head as a country with this backwards ass shit over... and over... and over again?!?!
ENROL! ENROL! ENROL!
DO. IT. NOW.
Oh I'm sure the ACT people would love to have him over at *their* sausage fest, cough.
"But is she guilty of anything?!"
"Can I be very clear I'm unaware."
"So you don't even know what charges..."
"Something that I'm sure will be made clear in coming days. NEXT!"
"But, to the incident, surely..."
"That's the end of the matter, yes."
HIS VOTERS: "I f'n told you he's helping Kiwis!"
"Look, what I'd say to you is, we maintain a very constructive relationship with allies such as the US, and whilst we are disappointed with this latest incident, we have registered our concerns with the appropriate authorities. That's as far as we can take it now."
HIS VOTERS: "See? Helping Kiwis."

Maybe create a productive economy instead of hand-holding a destructive rental market?
Stop selling our industries / firms off, just to watch the income go to offshore "aSsEt ManAgEmENT" firms?
Abandon our cult-like worship of fuckwits like the Mowbrays who say "This is just the way it is"
