The 510 has a fully dedicated right of way along its entire length and has the slowest average speed of any route, even in Toronto? That's wild!

Long-Term 2 RFP Ontario’s electricity sector today is seeing growing demand, an evolving supply mix and a drive toward grid decarbonization. Combined, these factors are spurring the IESO’s ongoing large-scale resource acquisition effort to ensure sufficient supply will be available into the 2030s and beyond.

Amazing news for renewable energy in Ontario today: the IESO LT2e procurement, which was "technology agnostic", just released results. 14 projects, 1.3 gigawatts of new power, entirely solar and wind. Average price of $87/MWh.

Ontario's next era of renewables buildout is officially underway.

Solar power in Africa is heating up — thanks in part to chili peppers | CBC News They're the chili peppers in the spicy chicken at a restaurant you might know. And they were an ingredient used by a Canadian company to build the first solar power plants in Malawi.

>Canadian company builds solar panels in Malawi
>is paid in Malawi's (volatile) currency
>invests those payments in local farmers growing chili peppers
>sells chili peppers to Nando's, in USD
>builds sustainable business model on Cheeky Nando's

This is my favourite news story of the year so far.

a parody map of north america showing the GTA as extraordinarily large, and the rest of Canada, the US and others as small. A joke about how Torontonians see the world.

hilarious (derogatory) for Danielle Smith to now push a set of gross anti-immigration referendum questions when just a few years back we had to see this shit on the TTC for an entire summer

It’s the main difference from Quebec or Brexit. At least in those cases the government said it was gonna do a referendum, then won a mandate in an election. The UCP is backdooring the whole thing because they know they’d get destroyed in an election if they ran on it.

Whatever you think about Quebec sovereignists, at least they run in elections with the clear platform of “we are going to do a referendum”

Alberta’s situation of a mealy-mouthed party who won an election almost 3 years ago with no explicit separation question on the ballot is much more fraught imo
